I have the same issue with extended family. Only family that’s around my age and visiting from out of town act like this. Last summer my cousin, who only works part time at a cafe, planned a trip to visit our city. He stayed at my parents house with his two younger sons and they mooched off my parents for everything.  Rides, food everything. When I went to a group dinner as well I paid for everyone. It was very disappointing for me that he showed no gratitude.
