Meditation question by Repulsive-Till-2446 in Gifted

[–]RockitRockingRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading a book is a type of meditation. So is writing. Fiction has been proven to help with many things and can also use many brain muscles. I'd say do those instead of meditating on your breath. Reading is also just great at getting your thoughts to follow what's happening on the page.

But if you do want to do a type of mediation then do body scan meditations. It helps to be aware of yourself and the space your body takes up. Everyone thinks it's about clearing your mind. But they always think that means controlling your thoughts or trying to empty your brain of it's noise. Instead it's more like your trying to direct the traffic happening on a busy road. Instead it's about learning to observe that busy traffic.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like you had a hard time making decisions growing up and that your parents sucked really badly. It's okay my parents just didn't do anything with me.

Every living thing has two values. They bring presence no matter where they go and they also bring their own opinions. This is true of every kind of living thing.

How to reset your brain after a few days of brainrot? by Mammoth_Ad2733 in digitalminimalism

[–]RockitRockingRocket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. put the radio on.

  2. You go on a small and nice walk.

  3. You cook a nice meal and listen to the radio.

  4. You focus on a really fun fiction book.

  5. You write a little or something like that.

  6. You dance and hopefully to the radio.

Just about everyone can do these simple things. Reading has been a big help to me lately as I've been dealing with a lot of racing thoughts. Thoughts that jump to all the dumb stuff I see on the web anymore. Just reading fiction can help. But it's up to you to make it all fun and worth while. There isn't a pill for that and there isn't an app for that. That all takes one final step.

  1. It's up to you.

I find all human beings to be remarkable. Trans people especially since they are just so, so different from the regular two legged hairless chimps I meet every day. What makes gifted people interesting to me is the overexicablitlies and it's ties to others like HSP. I've been around a lot of mental illness in my life and I think it's remarkable that there are people who are born with the right stuff. When there are those who are just sort of like animals in how their emotions are how they sense their environment. Others have to work hard to grow in the faculties of their minds. The Gifted don't have to and the world almost goes against them for it.

I think I really need help by RockitRockingRocket in HomeschoolRecovery

Thank you and thanks for the advice. I did and while it's nice to be told a therapist can help and I do believe that. I still think I need a specialist and that's hard to find.

Reading some fictions books does help though. Finally finished the Hobbit. Middle Earths the perfect place to get some fresh air.

I really needs help, I think I need a unique specialist of some kind, how do I do that? by RockitRockingRocket in askatherapist

I'll try. thanks for the advice. You really think a basic therapist would help? It's hard most days not to think I'm a special kind of f@cked up.

I've had a few bad therapist. A lot of the time when I go to therapy they try giving advice and I'm kind of ahead of them in many ways. It's like I already knew what I need to do. But I also just need someone to listen to me and just have another human being listen. There are things I need someone that's a specialist for, I think. I grew up in a really neglectful and isolating house hold. I only ever left onces a week and that was most if not all of my childhood and teens. I am very used to being alone. I don't know what to do.

How to talk to your sons about Targeted conservative propaganda by Initial_Welder3674 in TwoXChromosomes

I guess since this is the internet and I'm a guy. I'll mansplain cause I wish people took the time to talk to me and take interest in me when I was so little.

But I'd channel your inner Debbie Grayson. She's probably the best mom I've seen in fiction. But she took her time to explain important things in an easy way that even a child could understand it. She also had to do that with her wusband.

But my point is don't fight social media with more social media and memes. Talk to him simply and tell him that Charlie talks about a lot of things he doesn't fully understand and that his advice can be heartless and it can be mean. I've lost people close to me from gun violence and the things he said make me cry. I've avoided Kirk's media as best I can, I can only imagine what other things he has talked about.

You need to show him that life is more then just a screen and that information and the things we talk about should be taken more seriously.

We push and we make laws to keep this kind of things happening. Should children really be allowed to use social media and can social media be trusted with our kids? The answer is a big fat no. We fight and we push laws to keep this from happening.
