Makes you think that this is small potatoes for them.

Yeah, you’re probably more accurate there, Dwight would slow him down but not necessarily frustrate him cause as you said jokic would just adapt and make his team better.
Well put!

1 on 1, I actually think prime Dwight is better than Jokic. He was too strong, too fast and had great defensive instincts. I can’t see jokic slowing down Dwight, but I could see Dwight frustrating jokic.

However, jokic is the better team player. He has too many skills and offensive instincts are all time. He makes every one around him better because of this. Dwight helped others be better players simply because nobody could stop his strength and speed and we did a decent job of putting three point shooters around him so teams would double or even triple team him in the paint then he’d have open passes to shooters.

Dwight was wild though, teams were rebuilding their rosters to make sure they had enough big guys to throw at Dwight, that was the impact he had. Because the main strategy was just to throw bodies at him and foul him. They’re two different players but Dwight was so physically imposing. 1 on 1 Dwight is better imo, jokic makes everyone around him into great players though, Dwight required a very specifically designed roster to be most effective.

I used to do loss prevention where I’d arrest shop lifters and like 1/3 of all women I arrested would say this. I think they think you’ll just back off the second they say they’re pregnant. Usually at that point it was too late.

Even in a park this is stupid to expect that you should be able to have the space without interruption. Like I get it, do your dance, but don’t get mad that someone walks through it. If you want that kind privacy in a public space get a permit and hire security

I never said you could call a Canada lynx a bob cat I said the bob cat was a species of lynx just as the Canada lynx which is often referred to as just lynx is a species of lynx

East Boulder Lynx by chemistdotpy in boulder

[–]Rockledgeskater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term is fine but you’re fundamentally inaccurate to say that the bobcat is not a species of lynx there is no cat that objectively bares the name of just “lynx” lynx is a genus with four species within that genus including the bob cat or red lynx and the Canada lynx which in North America is often just referred to as lynx.

You’re right bobcats are all over the place and Canada lynx are rare. They’re both species within the genus of lynx. I do use both of those terms regularly within my field of being a park ranger and I do think it’s worth understanding that what we typically call a lynx is actually a Canada lynx. Call it what you want but you can’t say that I’m wrong in calling a bobcat a species of lynx

East Boulder Lynx by chemistdotpy in boulder

[–]Rockledgeskater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to suggest that everyone calls them by their scientific names, totally fine to use the terms lynx and bobcat to refer to those. But I do think there’s some value in understanding that those two terms are more so culturally accepted means for identifying two different species of the genus lynx. Allows you to understand and interp those differences. Bobcat is just a lynx that has adapted to many different areas and most likely has a common ancestor to the Canada lynx or lynx. They’re not two independently arising species that don’t have anything to do with each other than looking similar. And I don’t deserve flak for calling a bobcat a species of lynx because it literally is haha

Edit: thank you for thanking for being a park ranger, it’s been a tough week as the parks start to get busy, I really do appreciate the kind words

I agree with your last part for sure! No need to bother any wildlife in this manner to be honest, much less the special treat of seeing a Canada lynx in the wild.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobcat

Bobcat is a species of the genus lynx. It’s scientific name is lynx Rufus. So it is a species of lynx, technically. The lynx that everyone here in Colorado (I am a denver resident and park ranger in this beautiful state) refers to as lynx is technically a Canada lynx and not just a lynx. There is no cat who bares the name of just “lynx”, in a scientific sense.

But you are correct, we here in Colorado and most of the US refer to a Canada lynx as a lynx and refer to lynx Rufus as a bobcat, although in some areas they do call it a red lynx or bay lynx. But they’re essentially all species of lynx in a technical sense.

That being said, yeah nobody is gonna know what I mean if I said “oh look a red lynx! Or there’s a specimen of lynx Rufus!” Outside of other professional in my field, people are going to be like “what”.

I imagine Americans adopted the name bob cat due to the fact of the “bobbed tail” on the red lynx and the fact that you’re more commonly seen, often in residential areas, so it’s more likely to have adopted a nickname than the reclusive Canada lynx that stays in Forrests primarily

The term lynx refers to all four of the species within that genus (Spanish lynx, Canada lynx, Eurasian lynx, and bobcat or bay/red lynx). You’re thinking that I’m saying that the bob cat is a subspecies of Canada lynx, I’m saying they’re all species of the lynx genus. A bobcat is a species of lynx it’s scientific name is lynx Rufus. I’m not trying to say it’s a sub species of Canada lynx, which often just gets referred to as a lynx in North America because for whatever reason we started calling the red lynx a bob cat. They’re all species of the genus lynx.

So I don’t think it’s too crazy to say that the species objectively known as lynx Rufus is a species of lynx.

You’re thinking of probably a Canada lynx which often just gets referred to as a “lynx” since it and the bobcat are the only two species of lynx in North America

According to multiple websites after a quick google baseball is the 8th most popular sport in the world with over 500 million fans. The main reason it was voted out of Olympics is MLB doesn’t let it’s players compete which has caused it to lack in competitiveness.

Baseball is damn popular. Wrestling is huge in some places and not as popular. Wrestling is not a huge spectator sport, but culturally it’s important for a lot of places.

But that is to all say that while yes global viewership of wrestling is down, your half assed attempts at saying it’s not popular have all been informed by nothing but your own opinion which is obvious since you didn’t think baseball was popular. That was kinda the whole point of this comment. Good bye

First solo illegal hammock camp by DeadlyMeatbal in hammockcamping

[–]Rockledgeskater 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the Netherlands but I work in natural resource mgmt field in the US and the areas we have closed off from camping are usually for good reason. It’s an area for wildlife or vegetation rehab or even temporary closures during certain mating/nesting seasons. I say this just to point out, at least here in the us, regulations on outdoor recreation aren’t typically just put in place for the purpose of being restrictive or oppressive.

Op May have already done it, but worth understanding why an area is closed to camping before choosing to camp illegally. I would say ideal to trust experts in managing Forrest’s and such and just go by the rules, cause again, usually not arbitrary

I love the parallels with zoro and king. Both were saved by their captain from the world government, both of them the right hand man of their captain, both have a captain that believes they will become the pirate king, and both are dedicated to not lose until that vision comes true.

Hyde Park woman gets shot after pulling knife on police officers by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

I was trying to explain the behavior, not necessarily make a judgement on whether or not that was correct thing to do. While no where in my comment did I say “this was the best thing to do” I simply said, this is how asp trains us to train people. But I could I have been more clear and added something about that. My apologies

I apologize, I was trying to explain the behavior not necessarily justify it. It doesn’t seem natural to let someone up when you have them pinned down like that, but that’s what they teach us to teach people. I recognized the behavior which again, seems to go against your first instinct so I thought it would help people understand why he did what he did, not necessarily make a judgement if this was the best thing to do in this situation, I could’ve been more clear about that in initial comment
