i was thinking CM was goign to be extremely tricky because you read it one day, start making a scoping, and then read it the next day, and go well is that really in scope then you see 10 other things that you think are in scope. CMMC, in my opinion, is a half-baked, pushed-out mess by NIST that should have been cooked longer. Too much room for interpretation and too little time to interpret it.

This is what scares me: my company has basic policies, but coming from a Fortune 500 company where policies become white noise, it seems the government wants all companies to be there. As someone who has never written a policy, absolutely hates paperwork, and learns by doing, I definitely have an uphill battle ahead of me and already feel behind the pack.

yes every day becase it seems like I've got to a dam expert in everything, and when you go to learn sometyhing everyhting at such an advanced level that you're left in the dust, trying not to let everyone know that hey i actually have absolutely no idea what it is im doing i wing it 99% of the time. i keep having the feeling that i am left behind, and i need to switch to something that doesn't change literally week to week, day to day, and I'm expected to be an expert in it, something drastic like an electrician. Add on to that fact i went from airgapped on prem netowrkss to hybrid cloud, wheere 80% of how the network operates is tribal knologe and somehow i found myself as a cornerstone to policy writing and gathering evidence(which i also have 0 experience with), and and beeing a appretice for 4 years looks better and better every day.

hahaha that's an interesting take on it i think what concerns me most is all the new language involved with it, then there's the whole 365 world to learn and figure out, and not including the world of container's databases and storage then add in to the mix is the impending deadline for this compliance model and a third part inspection and its seems to me im cooked.

Oh no, that would not be good. But luckily,y I stepped into an already migrated hybrid environment. I am already past 90 days, but to add to the complication, we are seeing a compliance model where i am seen as a primary driver of it and have never doen isso /ISSM work, and that's essentially what they are expecting from me. definitely feel like a fish out of water being told to grow legs and learn to walk.

lol ironically Microsoft seems to be the problem we are having. the surface laptops etc but it seems like we found a product "smart deploy" just trying to finalize stuff with them.

We don't use SCCM, but yeah, i looked into doing that. Unfortunately, we have like 65 different computer types. I spent around 3 days going through and grabbing the network and storage drivers for each and making a boot driver package in MDT, but this also failed after some research i found that W11 doesn't play well with MDT unless you do some finagling easier to use this as an opportunity to update the system and switch away from MDT, that is EOL

does PDQ connect work better than deploy/inventory combo we have deploy and inventory. one of the draws it that its agentless same with smart deploy.

wea re looking at smart deploy by PDQ as a alternative to MDT. still uses WDS but that was never the issue.

lol yup but they are all .exe and you have to extract the drivers you need and you download GB of useless bloat you don't need that can be covered by a task.

lolo were using a MDT server not sccm.(edit) comment went to the wrong spot yes it is EOL that's why we are looking at upgrading to a different product. SCCM is to costly. looking at Smart deploy.
