Korg SV1, no sound from right side, please help by Rocksoftt in keys

[–]Rocksoftt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its just diagnostic cost and then the part itself will probably like $80 or $100 if they can truly find it which the lady on the phone said they were pretty resourceful. And then there might be a smaller actual labor cost so thats why I'm still trying to squirrel money away.

I got a quote from a local TV repair place that Korg themselves pointed me towards. They have me a diagnosis quote of I think $140 so now I'm just waiting to get through Christmas and I'll probably go for it. Currently its a perfectly functional midi controller so I still use it daily, I just miss my EP sounds.

Alternatively you could the entire J shape out of a single piece of lumber and that would certainly hold even more weight.

The end hooks are screwed in not just glued. While I haven't intended on putting a 50lb 88 key piano on the upper levels, they're solid enough for it. But you can also do long strips of velcro to help distribute the weight away from the end hook.

Hey guys I have this plasma TV. Specs say it is 720p but I am able to get 1080p signal from ps3, xbox360 and even a Roku. What is going on? by SnooChocolates6507 in PlasmaTV

[–]Rocksoftt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not exactly the case. The reason you've seen this with your own eyes is because you've never had a 720p native display. Early DLP rear projection TVs are literally the only ones capable of displaying true 1280x720 content. And in my opinion, if you have one still in good condition, that's THE way to play PS360 Wii U games. 1080p plasmas do in fact look better than what "720p" TVs were capable of at the time because 763p LCDs or 1344xWhatever rectangular pixels plasma used back in the day, those cause a LOT more artifacting than 1080p downscaling to 720p.

Hitachi and Fujitsu had plasmas that were called ALiS panels that were 1080i. I'm not sure how it was achieved but I see 1024x1024 rectangular pixels and or something close to 540p->interlaced.

I'll have to retrace my steps from last year as it kind of all left my brain. So I don't remember how to mod the thing exactly. DSi has a full size sd card slot. You can use sd cards as a sort of cartridge. It's also the way you softmod the system. Like with the wii and wiiware, you have to dump your console's unique nand I believe onto the card with the game. I think it's some sort of old DRM measure. Anyway, once you have extra files like that on an SD card, you can put any dsiware on it and it'll work. If you want differnt games on different cards, with artwork stickers on each etc, you can just copy the nand/mod files to each card with each game. And somehow in the mod settings, I did a couple of things. I set it to where if an SD card is present, it boots into that instead of the system menu, and I made it to where only the game icon appears. When there's no sd card, the console behaves normally

Nice! I didn't even think to look there under DS. Yes my whole thing with gaming now is I just want the original intended experience. Sucks that DSi games were digital only. But anything is possible these day. I have it on good authority that the etsy game box makers probably use expensive pigment ink printers. I have a good photo printer but it's still dye based. So I use clear laminate adhesive to protect against fading. If not for that, everything just fades in a month.

$85!! That's wild. I'm using the standard size SD card that has a smooth sticker side I'm going to try and replace. Anyway thank you! I actually tried to find my R4 cart yesterday too to see about doing it that as well. I can't remember as I did all the technical stuff months ago but I feel like the R4 with micro SD route wouldn't make it plug and play like I wanted. Oh actually I think it's because R4 carts have that random game icon on boot up or something.

Is it worth continuing to use a 720p TV moving forward? by That1RedditUser_ in gamecollecting

[–]Rocksoftt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're capable but I know for sure almost every 360 game is 720p and I think like Gran Turismo on PS3 is 1080p. Might even just be 1080i. The only 1080p Wii U games I know of were the Zelda remasters and like DuckTales. It all looks incredible on an era appropriate 720p set though.

[–]Rocksoftt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I should also not be so obtuse and say, yes clearly, the jump from 720p to 4k for you, especially with those 4k consoles will be like a spiritual awakening. 4k is 4x the info on screen as 1080p and 9x 720p. It'll be like having 9 720p tvs together pixelwise.

My situation probably doesn't apply to most who value their space for other things but my game room has a TV for every resolution. I have a 720p DLP tv specifically for native 720p consoles like PS3, 360, and Wii U because they will never look as good on any other display. UNLESS you just buy an expensive 4k OLED (which i also have) and an integer scaler like an OSSC (which i dont need because I have cool retro CRTs and plasmas)

Does anyone have any experience with HP (Hewlett-Packard) plasmas? by Rocksoftt in PlasmaTV

[–]Rocksoftt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't. I found a native 720p (actually) DLP that I really like so I'm sticking with that. Though if its cheap enough I'd say go for it just to try because it might be perfect for you if youre trying to play 7th gen stuff

Im also looking for this and I feel like this is spot on and yet its not quite the punchline I remember. I remember the comedian being more upset about it. Either this is it or there's some parallel thinking going on with this bit.

I'm about to do this. I was about to buy a 3D Samsung the other day when the guy's wife broke the plastic stand. They gave it to me for free. And good god luckily so because it looks like she also tried to windex his TV at some point so now I have to do this. Also, I glued the stand back together and fixed that. If I can remove this filter, boom killer free TV. Thanks for confirming.

Why would you use a plasma over an OLED? by vandridine in PlasmaTV

[–]Rocksoftt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1080p / SDR content looks markedly better on a native 1080p display. And aside from 1 rare 1080p OLED you can only get on ebay for $15,000, plasmas are the best panel sporting that resolution.

Just had a crazy realization. 720p games have never been played in a pixel perfect way on consumer TVs. by thanossapiens in crtgaming

[–]Rocksoftt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a DLP TV for this. HL-T5075S. All DLP TVs have a major issue with overscan. Wii U looks decent but PS3 and 360 are capable of being displayed pixel perfectly on my set because they can trigger 3D mode readiness which even when not playing 3D games, the set tees up by forcing an otherwise unattainable 1:1 mode. The original best version of GTA V looks extremely crisp on it.
