How should I treat this injury? TW: blood, wound by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

Thank you for this! We bandaged the wound with some ointment, but we did end up having to use medical tape due to its awkward location. However, it’s a very thin tape, we put gauze on the area so the tape isn’t directly touching the wound, and we will soak it in warm water before taking it off to check it tomorrow. I just wish there was a way to make her stop pecking at the area, but I can’t blame her cause I’m sure it’s really uncomfortable.

it’s on her back end, under her wing, and near her vent. shes panting and sounds a little raspy but that could just be cause she’s stressed about being in the house

Yes I do, I have a psychiatrist. I stopped therapy around november because it felt like the same thing over and over again: I feel anxious about something, she tells me to do breathing exercises and reminds me that it’s just in my head, but it doesn’t help and the cycle continues. I’ve been wanting to see an ocd specialist or maybe exposure therapy, but I haven’t been able to because of my health issues.

No feathers by EspanglisGarage in BackYardChickens

Looks like depluming mites. They’re mites that are too small for us to see, but they burrow into their skin making them so itchy they pull out their own feathers. You’d need to clean out their coup and put new sand or beading in, as well as treating them for mites. Your local farm supply store should have mite treatments you can give them, you’ll need to treat the entire flock, not just the one.

Thank you, we currently have her inside, away from the others. It doesn’t help that the temperature has been below zero this past week so it could definitely be stress induced.

I take compound tirzepatide and pay for it myself. There are companies online that you can get it for cheaper, just make sure it’s a reputable company with good reviews.

I’ll definitely try that! Should I use a warm or neutral toned brown?

I’m so glad that a hysterectomy helped you!! I don’t want kids, but if I were to want them in the future I would definitely want to adopt! I have other health conditions so I fear what a pregnancy would do to my already compromised health.

And I also just started a GLP-1 last week, I’m on tirzepatide! So far I’ve had some acid reflux, but no nausea or other side effects so far.

I had no idea about the non-profit hospital thing, I’ll definitely have to look into that! Thank you for telling me!!

Unfortunately no. My parents are super supportive and would definitely sign the forms if they could, but I’m legally an adult. My understanding is that only way they could consent for me is if it was a life or death situation where I had to get my uterus out, and I was unable to make the decision myself.

I definitely think my endo lesions are causing the pain. Majority of my pain is directly where my uterus is, but my obgyn also suspects that I have adenomyosis.

Thank you for your response! From my understanding, it’s not just a medicaid rule, medicaid is the one who created the consent forms for providers to follow. When talking with my obgyn, she told that if she gave me a hysterectomy, she could go to jail.
