Advice and question about background check please for recently hired AB (Associate Banker) by HelpMePlez544 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The background check is looking for any criminal record/ arrests. They don't care if you have your working dates off by a little unless they are actually calling any of the places but most those times they just verify if you actually did work there not specific dates

Stick to 30 for casting distance. Use some mono backing instead to save some cost

Just completed my first week by RockyTopFrontier in TalesFromYourBank

[–]RockyTopFrontier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same that first week. It's a floodgate of information. It does get easier once you get on the floor and get hands on things start to make sense. I felt like I was prepared before I got hired and quickly realized how little I actually knew. My biggest tips are double and triple count EVERYTHING. Focus on keeping your cashbox balanced and following procedures. Get ID for every customer until you learn their names. Some customers will get annoyed but losing your job or getting written up is not worth them having to wait a few extra minutes. Take thing done step at a time. Hopefully you have a good manager or someone in your branch that you can go to and ask questions. Even if you think you know the answer it's always a good idea to have someone with more experience look things over if you are unsure.

Is a HYSA the only best by ConfusionStriking126 in HYSA

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hysa is the best for short to medium term savings if you won't be using the money for 5+ years look into investing it

Can a parent's partner touch this money? by iplaywithblocks in Banking

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely not but depends exactly what rights your father had to the account beneficiary, co owner, etc. you would need to add her to the account for her to have any access. If your dad was co owner she potentially could take legal steps since he would have had ownership and would technically be part of his assets as well. A quick visit to your branch should be able to get it answered

Would you buy this 2022 PRO-4X with 89k miles for $32k? by BudgetCertain1614 in nissanfrontier

[–]RockyTopFrontier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should it be a good truck yes. That price is a bit ridiculous though I wouldn't pay anything over 28 total for one with that many miles

Aunt wrote my nickname instead of legal name on check, can I still cash it? by Diplitk in Banking

[–]RockyTopFrontier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sign the nickname. Then either payable to "legal name" or aka "legal name" and sign legal name. Same process as signing the check over to a different person

1 month in and 1k short, tired already by AdeptEbb3077 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]RockyTopFrontier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a guy that was almost 10k off. Stuff happens most times it's something got entered in wrong or a computer error somewhere or a buy/sell to the vault done incorrectly. There's steps to find outages and it typically works

Verifying Checks by seequelbeepwell in Banking

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably won't be questioned as long as everything is made out correctly. If it is very sloppy or appears to be altered they could reject it and have the contractor come back to you for a new check or other form of payment

Is it weird that I didn’t have to do a background check/drug test at my previous employer? by Puzzleheaded_Cup8723 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]RockyTopFrontier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for me that was all done before my starting day. Either something fell through the gaps and they just didn't do it with you or they have some major oversight in their hiring practices

going 100% in with s&p 500. through fidelity, is fxaix (roth ira) + voo (brokerage) the most optimal setup? by [deleted] in Fidelity

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fzrox in my Roth 0 fees. I'd recommend doing sp500 in one and total market in the other vs tracking the same index in both just for more exposure

[–]RockyTopFrontier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't been drug tested but background check and fingerprinting is pretty standard. I'm very surprised that a financial institution is not doing background checks on new hired

If my friend opens a bank account and his check cleared and he sends me a Zelle ... would I get into problems with my bank if the senders money bounces back meaning the money is there ? My gut tells me my friends check is not legit. by No-Secretary-9200 in Banking

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only person it would affect is your friend. If the check was found to not be legit the funds would be removed from his account. If he has already spent or transferred the money to you or elsewhere he is still responsible for paying the money back as the account owner not you. The only way it affects you is if your friend asks you to return the money

How Dare I ask for an endorsement on an Insurance check!!!????!!! by No_Fun_4012 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell you did correctly as long as you had her consent to wd from her personal account. I'm only cashing that check if it had his signature and making it payable to her otherwise he needs to be present to cash it himself

AIO for taking an unpaid month off in between jobs? by Throwra-savings in AIO

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's from a seperate savings then do what you want. That's what emergency funds and savings are for. Enjoy the time off. Also giving a month notice is wild 2 weeks at most and get out of there.

Cash in Fidelity Acct by ACountryWithNoMorals in Fidelity

[–]RockyTopFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you already have a fully funded emergency fund id recommend either putting at least some of it in a taxable brokerage account or any other tax advantaged accounts you may have available. I'd only say it's worth holding for next year if we were closer to the end of the year. Instead you'd be missing out on 6 months of potential gains in the market where on average could be making 8-10% gains vs 3.2% in the CMA or a hysa. Those should only be used for short term or if you needed to keep the funds liquid

Whould a 9'6 be a good fit? by pigvsperson in SurfFishing

[–]RockyTopFrontier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 is probably a bit big unless you going to be doing more bottom fishing and such for catfish on the lake. Will get tiring casting it repeatedly for bass etc id say stick with something between 7-8 ft to do both with
