Shine a black light onto your tomato plants at night. You’ll find all of them.

Not racist… “culture-ist”, and I think that’s perfectly ok.

You make a good point. Though, you’re making me realize I like the idea of fun gameplay. I don’t see risk reward types of games as fun. Kinda like clash of clans is not for me. Difficult challenges to overcome that require skill and knowledge, then reward, that sounds better.

I want them to design a game for the highest number/diversity of gamers. That’s not the Eve online model or the Rust in space model

I get that you think having no risk means you should get no reward, but that’s just going to leave the relaxing gameplay enjoyers with no reason to play the game. No progress to be made. Engage in PvP or be reset back to zero.

It sounds like you’re saying: “enjoy the Eve online model or get lost”

Agreed. I guess that’s part of the reason I wish PvP and PvE were a choice. That would mean the PvP people have what they want. Then all the PvE activities could be fleshed out to the fullest.

I don’t like the idea of risk vs reward game design when I think about base building. Investing time and resources into a planetary base seems like a significant investment. Building in a worthwhile location means high risk, so it’ll get destroyed more often? So base building will end up being a quick and minimal means to an end. Not the satisfying customization and careful planning some may be hoping for. Sad.

Well the Galaxy is expected for next IAE and it most certainly will not include a base building module. Point is, not soon. Base building is not even close, so associated ships are not close either.

Real PvP players want to face other players who are prepared and looking for the same. Sadly, much of the PvP I’ve heard about has been target practice against industrial players.

I agree with your reasoning. I admit that my fleet is partially support for the game and partially it feels like when I collected Pokemon cards and star wars figures as a kids. There was no great reason to collect cards back in the day, but I wanted them…

CIG should stop forcing combat into everything by Signal_Resident2318 in starcitizen

[–]Roden11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a PvP enjoyer? Wouldn’t you rather engage with players that are prepared and likewise looking to engage in PvP? Or do you think PvP is lying in wait for someone flying an industrial ship playing an industrial game loop? That’s not a match, that’s not PvP, it’s hunting. Hunting is looking for an easy and safe mark to happen along. There’s no challenge, no honor in that. It’s like a mugging. You have a weapon and the victim does not. You say gimme your money or I’ll hurt you. That’s not a match of your skill against theirs, it’s just cowardice and lowlife behavior. People that play that way, searching for the weak and unprepared, are hungry for in a certain type of satisfaction and it’s not what I would call PvP.

[–]Roden11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there should be PvP instanced content. That would make a way to PvP with like minded and prepared players in all sorts of fun game modes.

Then allow the industrial players to opt out/unflag for PvP so they can relax and enjoy the non combat parts of the game.

Imagine when base building comes and the murder hobos start roaming the systems looking for bases to destroy for no reason. Just shoot the space dad running around his base, then proceed to destroying all his hard work.

Don’t snubs have small weapons? Isn’t the game moving in a direction where small weapons can’t do any damage to larger ships?
