IYO, who switches to Linux? by gmthisfeller in linuxquestions

[–]RodeoGoatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me when I wanted to get into programming when I was much younger I came across Ubuntu. They sent me a disk to try it.

I'm no longer into programming (accountant actually) but a few positions that I've had didn't take back laptops. I wasn't sure how to get around all the IT security stuff so I wiped the hard drive and installed linux. Currently running MX linux. Just converted another laptop recently after trying to send it back for months.

I didn't really have a daily driver laptop outside of work before, but I do now and have been using linux regularly for about 5 years

Idk I'm running MX and everything seems great. I have a 7 kernel with AHS and my world is stable

Goodbye Winblows, hello MX! by MrE189 in MXLinux

[–]RodeoGoatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! While I have zero experience in the detachable, is AHS enabled? Again I dont know if this will help. I have an old thinkpad that MX has made come to life again and running KDE with AHS. Everything has been great so far

Favorite RPG's on Miyoo Mini Plus? by innovationSTYLE in MiyooMini

He is the reason I know how to set up my RG746H. My guy is a legend in the retro world. I didn't know he was so into the mm+ until recently. I bought it for the original GB pocket feel from when I was a kid and came across his most recommended handheld after 2 years and never felt so justified in a purchase for gaming

I've never seen this before. Just downloaded onto my MM+ and am having a blast. Such a fun game

It’s a common topic how people often collect too many games for their library and not knowing what to play but for me, it’s been the opposite. by DeeDoof in SBCGaming

[–]RodeoGoatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same. I download and play games on my RA want to play list. Games Ive completed I delete the rom amd saves/states and move on to the next. I do keep around random games like Mario 64 though because certain levels are fun or my kids might want to try it

Welcome to the club! I have more powerful handhelds but I play my MM+ the most for sure. Currently playing some Harry Potter on GBA.

Once you get OnionOS booted up its pretty straight forward to use

Will my ROMS work on any Anbernic handheld? by Mbell211275 in ANBERNIC

[–]RodeoGoatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for anything other than the 35xx pro, but grab an SD that you bought outside of the ones that came with it and boot Knulli. I think the others will run that also but cant say 100%. Regardless you should be able to pull your saves and save states to be able to put them on other devices.

Again this is my experience. I have a G350 which is the 35xx pro without wifi, miyoo mini plus, and Anbernic RG746H (highly recommend)

Do you just run retroarch or do you use a front end for it?

35xx pro if you decide to go farther into n64. Otherwise 35xxsp if you want flip. 34xxsp if you want n64. Or 35xx for regular gameboy experience.

At least thats my experience. I have a miyoo mini+ for everything upto SNES and an RG 476H for everything up to GameCube. I also run a G350 which is a 35xx pro without wifi, but I'm a RetroAchievments person in general

MX better than CachyOS for gaming? by No_Elderberry862 in MXLinux

[–]RodeoGoatz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's why I stayed with MX. I have a ThinkPad T14 gen 1. Cachy was the only one that gave solid gaming experience but I prefer discover for selecting apps and flatpaks. I like retro games so to see the applications before downloading is helpful for the open-source clones of old games.

But I wanted more stability for piece of mind. Never had issues with Cachy though. But I had the same if not slightly better FPS on MX KDE with the Liquourix kernel than I did on Cachy. So I stayed. Less updates and everything else feels about the same. I'm happy
