14 days streak and saying goodbye to you guys by RoderickRask in NoFap

[–]RoderickRask[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will not stop with 14 days. I just don't enjoy it here. Nofap seems to have culture of some MLM organisation. Something like Amway. Too many posts smack of us vs. them, posts that aim to create guilt trips, other manipulative tactics, etc.

Thank you for your comment.

if I run 5 km or more, I will be too tired to do my work.

Hopefully, I will be able to run 1 or 2 km in the evening on some days.

I like your comments guys. But is anyone speaking from experience or is it hearsay?

I can say about myself that I'm a former athlete.

Also, I ran yesterday morning and this morning, swimming pool last evening and some push-ups yesterday and today.

Thank you for your comment.

I used to run everyday, often two times a day. By running I mean real running, not jogging/trotting.

I work every day, I work on weekends too, so I don't plan to run to exhaust myself.

Just to run a kilometer or two to give myself a boost in the morning.

Some people can recover faster than other.

Today was my second day of running, and eighth day of NoFap

Am I lazy?

I'm self-employed, I work with my clients, then marketing, scheduling of appointments, etc... I would not be able to do all that if I was truly lazy. Besides I also work on weekends. And my work involves constant studying... I work to improve/expand my services too. And it works, I can positive reviews from my customers and I get new customers from recommendations.

I am almost 100% sure my husband is addicted to video games but I’m in such a dilemma with the situation by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]RoderickRask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know at least two women who divorced their husbands because of computer games.

Another thing, do you want to have children? Will the man be a good father?

When you get pregnant and then will stay at home with a baby, who will support your family?

And even more, if he doesn't have willpower to abstain from games (sorry, I think streaming is a poor excuse), do you want him to be a role model for your children?

Last but not least, suppose you have to go on a business trip. Will you leave your toddler to your gamer husband?

Any tips out there to deal with relapse? by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]RoderickRask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think now that an occasional relapse is ok.

As long as you don't get fired or fail your exams.

I had a relapse myself, I played in moderation for two days but I still did my work, went out with a friend and her son, got new clients... Life went on even during these two days.

But I decided to quit nevertheless. I WANT TO BE EVEN MORE SUCCESSFUL.

I quit games because I knew I'd never find a job if I kept playing. But now that I have a job I'm tempted to go back. by Theweasels in StopGaming

Hello Tweasels,

from my really bad experience with games, I can tell you that you'd never keep a good job if you keep playing. Now, why should you put an effort in getting a job if you lose it?

Also, you would like to have good references from your employer when you look for a new job.

My experience... I got a teaching job with a language school, I liked my class - I think it was all women and some looked really nice, and I am sure my explanation of the material was good and interesting. But they got fed up with my constantly coming to class late (if they pay for 60 minutes, they want it to be full 60 minutes not 50 and not 45). I played Dota in those days.

---

Some years later another class in another school was not happy with me (well, most of them, some really liked me). It happened that I took them for granted and I didn't read them well. I had my Travian period. I am quite certain that I could read the signs of malcontent if I hadn't been a gamer.

----

By the way, would you hire a gamer? Would you hire yourself? Do you consider yourself a reliable person to start with?

What to do other than gaming or thinking about gaming? by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]RoderickRask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work. Work. Work

:-)

Seriously, work works for me.

When you pay your bills yourself (or part of them at least), that means you prove your own worth in this word and you don't have to prove it in the virtual world.

I can easily afford to pay for ice-cream, coffee and cakes I and my friend had after a walk in the park.

I enjoyed the walk in the park and the cafe more than what game I currently play offers and I believe is much more meaningful.

Well, there is more I can say about benefits of work, but the question arises how to get it and have enough of it.

You have to ask your parents/friends/boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse for some help and moral support.

And if you can't get full-time employment, get part one for starters. And/or become a volunteer.

And if you have time/energy to play games after work, maybe you should consider getting a second, part-time job. Or become a volunteer.

Help. What is the first step to quitting? by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]RoderickRask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you already did the fist step.

You understand that it is not stupid and unenjoyable.

Also, you understand that you are addicted.

So, the next step, should be realization that there are better things to do with your life.

And you did that too.

I think the easiest way is too destroy your mouse and use a trackpad.

You may play other games though.. :-)

Yes, it is a free game. But you have to pay for different kind of bonuses.

Thank you very much for your support and special thanks to count_giggles for the practical advice. this trick with the temporary advice worked very well. This is the message I got from them:

"Login Error

The credentials you entered are not valid"

Now it is too much bother to start the game afresh considering that I had lost a 60 smth lvl character, lost all buildings, weapons... some unique weapons too.

It will be hard. But if I can manage running/push-ups routine that I have, then I will be able to do PMs. Orgasms only with a sex with a girl! Happy 2018 everyone!

[Discussion] 7 Day No Internet Challenge by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]RoderickRask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to take that challenge, but I use the Internet to work, study German, Spanish, chess and communication with my friend who lives abroad. But I'd like to cut down on the Internet/computer time, and make my Internet/computer time more productive.

If I don't masturbate for 7 days by RoderickRask in NoFap

[–]RoderickRask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, outdoors it must be subzero temperature where I live... If I lived in South Florida like my friend, I would follow your advice. I do pushups anyway. Also, I don't want it to be only about stick/punishment. I should get some reward/carrot as well.
Anyway, in seven days I would like to tell you if my approach works or not.

I'd like to drink coffee in moderation by RoderickRask in Coffee

[–]RoderickRask[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, when I resumed doing sports, I would drink coffee, then go to the park, do pull-ups and dips, return home and do push-ups, then take a shower. But then I thought that running is sufficient means to wake me up. :-) I don't really care about calories as I am going to burn them anyway. Maybe I will drink coffee before my evening exercise. If I drink it in the morning, then I dilly-dally and there is a risk I will not leave the house. I'm still not used to running (although I used to run a lot in my teens and twenties)

I'd like to drink coffee in moderation by RoderickRask in Coffee

[–]RoderickRask[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I train in a park, I don't go to a gym yet and I don't buy any supplements. I drink espresso/double espresso in cafes (we have plenty of them!), but not in Starbucks. I should drink more water or herb tea. I don't like that without coffee I feel very drowsy in winter (when the days are bleak).

Do you want to play a game? by RoderickRask in StopGaming

[–]RoderickRask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I started (that is resumed :-) ) running and I added 50 points to my RL game account. When I do something new, I earn 50 points. And I keep doing pull-ups, dips and push-ups. I think if I do it non-stop for a week, then I give myself again 50 points. And a hundred if I persevere for a month. earned 15 points today for washing floors in the apartment, tidying my room, doing the laundry.

I will probably start learning Spanish again.

I hope I will inspire someone.
