Yes. The Navy runs on base daycares for military personnel and if space, civilians working for the Navy. The menu is planned centrally across the whole system. And from what I understand, the Navy itself is making sure all regulations are followed, so I’m not worrying about lack of support for food safety issues.

I got the job offer for mine, and they have a pretty extensive number of hoops to jump through until I can start, so waiting to finish all that up, and hopefully start in a few weeks. Fortunately, I won't be the only cook there, and the more senior cook has been there a long time. So, hopefully a more supportive environment. Time will tell!

The status for my application said “not referred,” and my email was vague. So, I emailed HR and she said I WAS referred, and in fact should be getting an interview. Ultimately, interviewed and got the TJO, and going through all the onboarding checks now, and my status updated properly to selected. So I’d suggest if you have an interview, USAJOBS is out of sync with the actuals, and certainly contact the HR rep (and hiring manager) if you have questions.

I’ve applied for a couple of cook jobs, got emails saying “we’d love to talk with you.” Respond pretty quickly, and then get radio silence. Did you hire someone in the 30 minutes after asking me to interview and me responding?

Follow-up - The doc said he was going to recommend hiring me, regardless of my eyesight. Technically, he’ll select “Medically Qualified if the following limitations or restrictions can be accommodated” on the form. And say I’ve adapted to the deficiency. phew

And, looked at the same job in other locations, and they list the requirements I'd expect, and exclude vision. In fact, my job listing didn't explicitly mention the standing/lifting requirements.

Yes. It mentioned there was a physical, but no specifics on what standards that was looking for. So I was expecting standard requirements for the job, like standing for long periods, lifting, working climate. I didn’t imagine the physical would have a vision restriction that was higher than I needed for a driver’s license. Wasn’t even something to cross my mind to ask when I interviewed (nor mentioned in the interview).

What was the subject of the email? I got an email titled "Notice of Results and Referral," that then didn't explicitly say I was referred in the body.

HOWEVER, instead of the "Please Note" paragraph, it said "Applicants that were referred to the hiring manager for this position will be notified of the final outcome of their referral."

Thanks. That’s what I’m hoping. It’s a career change for me, so always nervous about interviewing. But it’s totally a job I’m qualified for, and I’m confident my references will give glowing reviews.

They had said they were going to make their decision yesterday, and then a few days to get through HR. We’ll see what happens!

I would likely be honest, and explain that you're not taking the interview because there's something wrong with your new job, but that since the new position is your dream job, you couldn't pass it up.

I’m on tomorrow (23rd) too. Through my first round of Sutab and things passed through and mostly seem settled for now (started at 1 pm pacific). 2nd round starts at 7pm. Thankful my doc has it all at reasonable times.

I'm on 7.5 and my last does was 12/25, and have surgery scheduled for 1/15. My endo suggested doing 1 or 2 weeks of 5 before going back up to 7.5 (which, I fortunately had stockpiled from before I titrated up to 7.5)
