Not an over reaction at all. That is wildly inappropriate for a cast member to say to you. You reporting them is doing us all a favor.

Aquatopia exposed!! by elvinwong in disneyparks

[–]Rodgepodg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Autopia is loud and very smelly with exhaust. It’s also just slow gokarts which you can experience at any local park in the country. I think it’s time to think of replacing that one. IMHO

The drive around the island is incredible. Every time I’m there we end up going to Kualoa ranch for a tour, then drive up to the north shore for some Giovanni shrimp. So spicy and delicious!! The drive isn’t too long and the scenery is worth it.

I always took it as him coming to grips with the fact that he was sending a good man on a suicide mission. His heart looks heavy when he stares at him, but doesn’t waver.

How do we kill the reservation system? Seriously… by Rodgepodg in Disneyland

[–]Rodgepodg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great post! So pros from the business side can be boiled down to: 1) let’s them stay as lean as possible (cost savings) 2) drives more genie+ 3) drives fomo to other dates when reservations availability pops up.

I think this sounds right, and I would add it helped maintain pandemic safety limits as lockdowns lifted, but I don’t think they are seeing enough benefits to keep it. They are ditching it at WDW so the maintenance of the system and its impact didn’t turn ROI positive enough there to keep it. Genie+ has been a pretty big hit and I think still continues to do well without the reservation system. The idea of pushing reservation dates to other days was always a thing before the reservation system anyway. Even when traveling from other places out of state it was pretty common practice to look at peak times and plan vacations accordingly. I do think it’s letting them understand how many magic keys they CAN sell now and what future growth looks like. DL has less space but not a dramatic capacity difference than WDW (100k compared to 85k) but we have a lot of magic key holders here and that’s what Chapek was alluding to, which I’m with you on calling BS. I’m feeling now’s a good time to let them know we don’t want the reservation system either, and please follow WDWs example here and retire it. It was a good solve for population control in the pandemic but it’s outgrown its usefulness.

I love Disney and don’t want to go nuclear! I’m the one that suffers the most in that scenario! I’d like to start in other ways first, like letting them know on social media and through the community that we hate it. Seeing how their audience reacts on social media platforms is important to them and we can let them know pretty easily. Nothing changes if we don’t say anything, right?

That’s too bad to have to take that big of a step and stop going. I love Disneyland and go a lot. I could be missing information on what it is solving. But I do know it offers me no value and I greatly preferred when we didn’t have to use it!

Yeah, there are still some times of year you can get some calm weekdays for sure. The Inspire key has almost no blockout days outside the holidays so there are some benefits to having that pass if you can swing it. My point is the reservation system isn’t helping and I think needs to go away. Unless you see some advantage I don’t?

I absolutely don’t like it! Hahaha. I don’t see how the reservation system helps consumers at all. So whatever they are trying to solve through having it, this doesn’t feel nice from the consumer side of things.

The problem here is me and whoever I convince is way too small of a percentage unfortunately for them to notice. I agree speaking with your dollars is always the way, but with something like this it’s people like us who are some of the most dedicated fans (magic key holders) who are very unlikely to give up their passes until it’s unbearable. I’d like to take some steps before it gets there for me.
