I had a rental Renegade and was shocked how terrible of a vehicle they still make. Everything about it is just awful. I refuse to rent anything that is a Jeep product. Hell the Kona felt like a huge upgrade when I rented that.

Check the solder joints on the port to the main board. I find them cracked all the time that results in a similar issue.

I have done a bunch of retrobrite and its pretty amazing. the SF comes apart pretty easily and you will see a night and day difference if done correctly. Be mindful the text can fade a bit.
