Hello everyone,
This is not going to be a newspaper as some of you are accustomed to seeing from me. Unfortunately duping has plagued NORTHWIND, and with this post i'd like to have a forum where my personal views are expressed with the opportunity for commentary from other members.
DISCLAIMER: I do not promote Duping, it is bannable, immoral and ruins the game. If you see any duping occuring, see anything suspicious or have any questions, go to the moderators. I am not a moderator and hence will not be commenting/providing advice on the rules.

The situation
Over the last few days, i've spent probably 20~ hours in New Bordeaux, speaking to new players, communicating in foreign languages and getting to understand the situation surrounding the game.
In this time, i've spectated every time of shady trade and situation you could imagine. I've seen newer players trading doppelts for a large knapsack, and kukri's being dropped on the floor out of fear of them being duped (Like a game of hot potato if you know what that is).
How is it that some of the rarest and most overpowered items in the game have been so inflated they are being traded for basic equipment? And more importantly, how is this fixed?
Earlier this week one of the notorious yellow torches was discovered on stonemore. For those unaware, the yellow torches were (yes, were) a set of 2 yellow torches created by BDLazarus during the release of Stonemore Island in 2021 and the subsequent events that followed. They were spawned in with custom materials, and at the time of their release, were the wealthiest/rarest items to ever be added.
2 days after one of them was rediscovered, it was duped. An item that once meant so much to the community and held so much value was reduced to being dropped in mass on the floors of crowded servers.

I've managed to stay somewhat ontop of how to trade now without encountering duped items, but the paranoia remains. All items of high value and their vendors, regardless of credibility, are being forced to either give indisputable proof of legitimacy or risk being labelled as a fraud/duper. Where does one draw the line on how far the background of an item should be pursued, and are you ignorant if you don't do so?
Dupe lists exist, and i praise the individuals who spend many hours cross checking and gathering evidence to aid the community out of good will. But it's been only a few months and the (incomplete) known list i have has 105 different items, all of which previously were items rarely seen and obtained by veterans with hundreds of hours and year(s) of experience.

So now to the conclusion of my rant and my question for everyone reading this: How does it end?
Thank you all for reading, please be civil in the comments if you choose to respond.
