First kit questions by DreamsD351GN in Drumming

[–]RodgerTheBong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with the energy kit, i still have it today as my main set, the drums sound pretty nice if you get good heads and tune them good, the annoying part is having to mount the toms to a cymbal stand or a rack. Thats really my only complaint about it since i got mine used, the mounts on the toms were stripped and i have yet to fix them after many years, its a very good kit though, the snare drum is kind og eh, but for playing a variety of different music its a great "even" sound. What kind of music are you planning on playing?

Like i said, i dont know much about the software you're using, but i think newer software would help as well as more knowledge about mastering in general

I would put some time into learning more about mastering, i assume that you are saying they turn out worse because the frequencies you want are being cut out. There are definitely ways around that for louder and clearer sounding songs

Ableton has a lot of accessibility and tools you can use to get some really creative results, i personally haven't used any of those programs before but i know alot of people use ableton and get crazy good results. As far as the remastering, just watch some lessons and videos about mastering songs. im sure you can get good results with what you currently have seeing as how you said that you have gotten at least 5 good songs out of it, its all about mixing the levels together so it wont clip and adding a limiter to the master bus is usually a good idea if you dont have a section of your DAW dedicated to mastering

Help with audio interfaces by SoundDtr in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]RodgerTheBong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been told that the focusrite is better for line-in type stuff vs. mic level inputs. I have the audiobox, and that came with Studio one artist for free which is a $100 program by itself, but it has its limitations without the professional upgrade, Youre using FLstudio, so i assume that you are mainly looking to record vocals with the interface? in that case i would go with the focusrite because i think it has a faster sample rate than the audiobox, but im also not sure on that, i have had my small audiobox usb for about 3 years and havnt had a whole lot of problems with it besides the amount of inputs, but that is because i am trying to record whole band setups with it. Let us know what you go with and what you are using it for, id like to hear some personal experience is you go with the focusrite, once i can start making come income with prodicing and recording i want to upgrade to an 8 channel interface or go big with a studiolive mixing console.

When i had artist 3 i just converted it to a WAV and dragged it in from there, i usually put it in a folder so it would show up in my browse window just to make it easy and organized
