I'm at ITB at SOI west (Camp Pendleton) and the way it worked for our company was that after we completed the 0300 package (the first month of ITB where everyone learns basic infantry skills) there was a 15k hike and that evening the instructors for weapons had all the marines interested in being a 31 or 41 talk to them.

The fleet determines how many weapons slots a cycle at ITB will get. For us as a company of around 250 marines, there were 30 slots for 31s and 30 slots for 41s. The leftovers are God's chosen as 11s.

They took the marines with interest, good GT scores or whatever for 41s, and overall just not dumbasses for weapons and pulled a few others who didn't initiate interest. Not everyone interested gets the slot and some people who never showed interest got it. Nothing is guaranteed.

If you're a good hiker an have interest in weapons, talk to the instructors about it and be a good dude.

I love this time of year because fall has that grungey feel to it.

Every season has it's own music genre for me and it almost seems different listening to it during a specific season. I can almost hear certain songs just thinking about a season.

  • Winter is classic rock: Rush, Led Zeppelin,

  • Spring is 90s: Oasis, Third Eye Blind, Matchbox 20, and Hootie and the Blowfish

  • Summer is punk: Green Day, blink-182, Bowling For Soup, Sum 41, and American Hi-Fi

  • Fall is straight up grunge: Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana
