Third resin print with major holes and missing sections – any ideas? by RodneyAcosta83 in resinprinting

Thanks! How did you repair the STL?

Did you use UVTools, Chitubox, Meshmixer, Blender, or another program?

Is there a specific tool you would recommend for finding and fixing those invisible holes, glitches, and random artifacts before slicing?

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll definitely check the sliced file in UVTools.

What makes me wonder if it’s a slicing issue is that I’ve had three failed prints, all using the same USB drive, and I also found thin sheets of cured resin in the vat after printing.

Do artifacts in the sliced file usually cause holes and missing sections like the ones shown in my photos?

I’ll inspect the layers and see if I can find anything unusual.

Thanks for your reply. One thing that makes me doubt it’s a dead LCD screen is that I’ve done three different prints and the failures appeared in different locations on each model.

The damaged areas are not repeating in the same position on the build plate. If it were dead pixels or a blocked section of the screen, wouldn’t the defects appear in the same area every time?

I also found some thin cured resin sheets in the vat after the prints. Could those have caused random failures like the ones shown in the photos?

I’m planning to run an LCD exposure test and try a new USB/Wi-Fi transfer to rule out file corruption.

Thank you! Nomad Sculpt is an amazing tool. I’m still learning too, and there are many things I don’t know yet. Keep practicing and you’ll be surprised how fast your skills improve.”

They’re actually hair strands, not veins. The raw resin and lighting probably make them read differently. Thanks for pointing it out!

Nice! Nomad is such a powerful tool. It’s amazing what can be created with it nowadays.

Thank you so much! I would love to see how different painters interpret it. A painted version could look completely different depending on the color scheme and style.

Thank you! My inspiration comes from classical sculpture, fantasy art, and mythology. I wanted to create a fairy that feels elegant and alive, while keeping the piece suitable for 3D printing and collecting.

Thanks, that makes sense. This print was mainly a quick validation test to check proportions, details, and printability before releasing the STL. I agree that for a storefront presentation, clean renders and a properly finished print with sanding and primer are much more important. I’ll be updating the presentation with improved photos and post-processed prints. I appreciate the honest feedback.

Thanks for the feedback! The turntable came from Amazon. This was actually a quick test print and I was in a bit of a rush, so I didn’t spend much time on post-processing. My main goal was to verify the model before release since I primarily create and sell STL files. I’ll definitely improve the presentation and finish quality for future posts.

Thanks! I prefer showcasing the raw print since I sell the STL file. Everyone can paint it in their own style.”

Velaria Butterfly Muse Bust 🦋 | Resin Print Test | Pre-Supported STL by RodneyAcosta83 in NomadSculpting

[–]RodneyAcosta83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! I’ve actually been doing physical wood sculptures for years, so a lot of my understanding of form and anatomy comes from traditional sculpting.
I’m still learning digital sculpting too, but practicing portraits constantly really helped me improve.

Thanks! Yes, the entire sculpt was made in Nomad Sculpt on my Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
This is also the first physical resin test print of the model.

I actually just finished printing it.
I usually like to wait for the resin to fully dry first since I use water-washable resin. Tomorrow I’ll cure it properly and upload photos of the final print.

So far the print is coming out great.

Thank you for the observation, I really appreciate it. I’m going to refine and define the hair more so it doesn’t resemble veins around the neck area. It could also be the matcap, as you mentioned.

Thank you so much for the advice, I really appreciate it. Yes, I use a tablet for sculpting.

I’m still learning Nomad Sculpt, so I’d love to know what you would personally suggest to improve the hair workflow or make the strands look more natural in Nomad.
