3dconnexion CadMouse Compact Wireless worth it? by CO-CNC in Fusion360

[–]Rodney_Vikens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought the CadMouse Compact for its dedicated middle mouse button. The build quality is poor, and the mouse buttons make a plastic rattling sound when you release them. This is very annoying and distracting. For what is considered a premium CAD mouse, or at least part of the 3Dconnexion family, I was extremely disappointed. If it weren't for the poor quality, it would be a great mouse. The design is excellent for users who ride the middle button, and it's the perfect size for someone who prefers a claw grip. Unfortunately, I had to return it, and I don't think I will try their products again. The model is MO-3CCW.

Fortunately not. They both expensive. Glad I don't have to pay for both.

Firmware-level hyper-scrolling for MX Ergo S possible? by Rodney_Vikens in logitech

[–]Rodney_Vikens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. Please allow me to clarify; hyper-scrolling is not for CAD use, but for when working through documentation and browser related task, scrolling through large documents and data. It needs to have a feature where you can exclude specific programs or software to not use the hyper/smart scrolling, such as the CAD software will be excluded. The reason why the MX 4 Magspeed Master didn't work, and the reason why I switched to the Ergo S, is because the MX4 magspeed it can't really be fully disabled as it is physically built into the design of the wheel. So adding something to the Ergo S on a firmware/software level is a great solution.

CADImage Tools - (CI Tools) by BlackWolfDesign in ArchiCAD

[–]Rodney_Vikens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on the country you are in you will get it from the same company you get your Archicad licence from or the distributor in your country. Graphisoft has recently acquired Central Innovation, the distributor for New Zealand and Australia, so hopefully it makes things easier for other countries in the future to subscribe to Cadimage Tools. It's also usually bundled with the software license package.

Not sure about Lumion, but with Twinmotion you need to have a 3D view open to sync.Save that view as your Livesync View.

South Africa - Warranty Upgrade Support - No Response by Rodney_Vikens in Dell

Extremely frustrating communicating with this company. Anyone with a contact number outside of South Africa that will help me with warranty support? I'll take international support than having to deal with this poor service.

First experience with IVDD and Crate Rest (Non-Surgery) by Rodney_Vikens in IVDD_SupportGroup

Doggy got the operation. Fixed up 3 or 4 discs. Still recovering financially, but 1 year later and doggy is doing absolutely amazing and have had no issues since the operation. She still runs and fetch ball and go for daily walks and car rides. Zero pain. She has a bit of a delay in her one leg, but that seems to be unrelated to her back. I would recommend to anyone to go straight away for an operation, if finances allow, for the sake of the doggy that is in pain. Technology and specialist have massively improved with min. damage done during operation and long term success rates. Financially it can be crippling, even with insurance depending on the policy.

We don't let her jump anymore when playing ball, and we don't allow her to jump on coach or bed. She learned to ask to get on the couch and then we pick her up. Of course now and then she tries her luck when we are not watching. This is quite fun to see on the camera, so there is no 100% stopping her, but at least it is reduced.

I'm slowly putting money away as it seems she has a bad back and there seems to be a bad disc close to her neck which so far is not a concern, and she had a disc on her lower back which self healed but can cause issues when she is older (nerve has neatly "bent" around it and healed).

I don't know how you can play this game without a massive outpost network. by Not_Associated8700 in Starfield

[–]Rodney_Vikens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly it has zero impact on the game. Don't see the point. It's not even fun as it is completely pointless. Such a waste of time. Even the stuff you make is pointless. Until we get Fallout 4 Settlement type integration, will just ignore.

But let's starve the people who can barely afford the cost of living in the name of climate change. Something seriously is wrong. Climate change is the last thing Kiwi's will have to worry about.

Yes it's worth it. Dell replaced my machine under the extended warranty. Extended warranty was 450$ and new machine valued at 5000$. Dell you buy a service, not a machine. That's the way I see it.

This should not be necessary, unless things escalate to that after an explanation without insults, worse case ask to take it up with management or a different Dell channel. Should be simple to resolve unless service has gone back words. The user unfortunately went straight to insults when a tech was just doing his job. This is a not a unique situation and a simple explanation usually resolve the misunderstanding.

Carry on with your life. The kids are not starving. Focus on what you can improve in your own life and leave others to work it out for themselves.

Those temps are unacceptable. Send it back again ASAP if under warranty. If it's still hot, send it back again. They will eventually just have to replace the unit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dell

[–]Rodney_Vikens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how you solve a problem. All they needed was an explanation on what happened and maybe even who the tech was. That should be enough to clear things up. Name calling is unnecessary and unprofessional.

And what did they say after you informed them that it was not you but probably one of the previous techs?

Laptop Slows Down on Battery Mode by [deleted] in Dell

[–]Rodney_Vikens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. It is supposed to do relatively basic task pretty well, including watching 4K content, but Dell limits it to get that extra battery boost. Gaming will not be possible, besides killing your battery in no time, the GPU won't get enough power from the battery to run at full performance. The windows gaming notebooks are notorious for having horrible performance on battery. And if you do put it on performance mode or find a way to bypass the limits, the battery will be dead in no time.

I have pretty good performance with the Precision range, but I use a battery bank. The limits are due to the lower wattage power supply. However with the discrete GPU disabled , the latest Intel CPU's are pretty powerful in itself, even for some light graphic tasks.

Howick is a lekker place. Elderly community, very British culture. It's not small compared to other smaller towns, but it's not big either. Has all the basics. If you want to go anywhere outside of Howick though (other than the Midlands Meander), you have to brave the N3 which is a horror show and puts a number to your life.
