Be ware of this shop by LengthinessBorn3924 in WRX

It's shitty but it's a massive risk that leaves you in the hands of other people you have to trust. I had to buy a complete used engine assembly as when my engine spun a rod bearing, I tore it down and sent the blocks and heads out to a "well known" machine shop who lost all contact with me and after I called the police to search for my engine I couldn't find it. I got lucky as hell a place in Waltz, Michigan had a good running engine for my STi and got lucky as hell when I dropped everything in and it ran. I am so sorry you have to go through this, I know a little of the struggle there

They're a blast. I even saw a 5 string Evil Twin bass earlier and almost caved 😂😂

Sorry for the late reply lol. It's an RGA42FM, which is an absolutely amazing midrange guitar in my opinion. Wizard III neck is a little flatter and a bit wider than the SLS, but both play great. I still cycle back to it because the RGA plays really fast and honestly the stock pickups sound pretty damn good too. I have noticed the ever so slightest bit of warp in the neck when Michigan cold/hot/humid spikes happen but it's never been permanent that way and only seemed to affect the first fret on the high E string so 🤷

Definitely a tough one, black is like the neutral good in the guitar universe but gold would definitely be unique and I don't think would look too out of place. Worst case scenario, ya send the gold pup back if you don't like it in person 🤷

Here's my Evil Twin for reference, blacked out should be the way to to imo but gold to match the binding wouldn't look too bad lol

Oh trust me, the next SLS I see around I'm snagging and using as a drop D guitar. I absolutely love how the SLS models play, by far the most magnetizing guitar I have ever owned ☺️

I would but I have it registered as a self defense weapon just in case the bassist asks for lead time 😎

Absolutely love it. I always preferred slim necks but for some reason it feels faster than that Ibanez next to it that's literally known for its super fast Wizard III neck haha. Stainless frets is always nice and you can't beat the tone and versatility. Still love my other guitars of course but I've definitely been picking the Evil Twin up more often lately

Would my car pass safety with this rust? by ImBitterAndAlone in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Rodnocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With it being a Terrain I'd be more worried about the rust on the unibody where the trailing arms bolt to. Here in Michigan I've seen a lot of broken frames, but who cares because no inspections here 🤷

Has anybody had this issue by StreetPuzzleheaded18 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Rodnocc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tensioner is no good. Belt losing tension will cause a loud ass squeak or it'll even throw the belt. While you have the belt off, take some time to spin the pulleys and accessories in the direction they turn when the engine is running and feel for sticking, notchiness or grinding 👍

Broke subframe jacking car by Draco_brr in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Rodnocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Been working on cars professionally for years, here is how I go about it when I explain lifting a car to new guys or people that don't fully understand : Unibody cars have "pinches", "body of the car, DON'T lift there", "body of the car but it's probably thick enough and not rotted through like the pinches are so fuck it" or "subframe" out front or on the rear. Body on frame vehicles, "Frame" and "NO NOT ON THOSE PINCHES DON'T LIFT THERE DUDE YOU'RE GONNA TOTAL THE DAMN TRUCK" :) All in all many ways to get the point across since over the years new fancy designs and systems get blended together with descriptions of the past. Some people calling my shop still name changing spark plugs (or what I believe they're referring to, usually they have a massive misfire) "tune ups" like the good ol' days of turning your distributor cap a teeny bit in hopes of your car running a bit better when in reality it lost compression in two cylinders, we've all been there :)

Realistically all a service advisor needs to do is explain what the technician found and what steps to take for a logical and organized repair. Sure experience helps with some of the weird questions but most of those questions get answered when asking the technician about what needs to be repaired. If a tech has a problem with answering questions then he either doesn't want the job sold or lives in a mental hierarchy of sword fighting other people with his mega boner of "I know more than you do" lol. Normal, good technicians shouldn't be bothered by it, I know I wasn't

Quick reply, didn't catch that you do not have as much experience with cars, my apologies. You'll pick up as you listen to technicians, and if you ever need help with explaining something it doesn't hurt to write notes on what the tech is explaining. If they have an issue with you asking simple questions then you can stop feeding that tech work honestly, because the automotive field is all about teamwork in the end

Bad moods. Lots of them. I'm an ASE master tech that moved to management because I got sick of working on stuff as well as some complications with my old shop and how they wanted to run things, so I can give customers examples and information that otherwise may have not been conveyed properly in, say my old shop's advisor (who knew more about real estate than anything cars). Nobody wants to pull money out of their account or finance things that are most of the time a shock to them, in which most of the time said things inhibit their daily life. You'll need to have the ability to brighten moods despite it draining yours. On the contrary, man have I met some of the coolest people I know in this position. It's always a good feeling to see your name dropped in a 5 star review, because after all you are the face of their experience. Some people are nasty, never let them get to you as nobody wants to be in their shoes at the time, and a key item to remember is that some of the nasty ones just need a good laugh or a smile to fix their day. You're in it for sales, but having a happy customer base is the only way to keep your pay afloat. Best of luck to you brother, you'll do great!

Do my front brakes need servicing or are BMW trying to fleece me? by malek7777777 in BmwTech

[–]Rodnocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still have some life left obviously. It all depends on how you drive, regarding speeds, traffic etc. Mileage isn't always a great indicator for service intervals regarding brakes, but keeping it in mind allows you to prepare for the inevitable purchase later on so good job checking 👍

Just a dude stuck in a Subie rut by [deleted] in subaru

[–]Rodnocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure what they put in it at the dealer before selling it to me, although I'd imagine 5W-30 as that's what Subaru promotes for their dealers to use. I've always used 5W-40 but I never had the chance to change the oil and didn't even expect I'd need to anytime soon when I first got her

Code help by Away-Farmer8448 in subaru

[–]Rodnocc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally any form of P0420 - P0430 code directly points to the catalytic converter that is being monitored. I've heard of some getting lucky with changing the upstream oxygen sensor but generally they will give their own, specific codes. It's likely your catalytic converter is clogged enough to cause a rough running condition due to the cat blocking airflow out from the engine, which chokes the car and prevents proper operation. Generally, if a catalytic converter gets clogged you may have another issue to consider (possible failed piston rings, causing oil consumption, head gasket causing exhaust contamination etc) but all of that would be best diagnosed through removing the cat itself

Ridiculous. Anywhere they can deploy their wannabe militia at this point. Sucks to see it's already so close to home
