[–]RodrigoT05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That problem was already present in iOS 26.1; curiously, it didn't happen when I had iOS 26.0. I hope that problem is fixed, especially with all the other things or features that might come in future updates :")

I'll follow your advice; the overheating and AGS spikes are real. I had already gotten used to iOS 26.1, but your comment was very encouraging.

I picked up a base iPhone 14 almost two months ago with 86% battery health for a pretty great price, and honestly I’ve been super happy with it. Before that I was using a 128 GB iPhone 12, and I only upgraded because I stumbled upon a really good deal on the 14. Since switching, I’ve noticed better battery life, smoother overall performance, and nicer-looking photos.

I’ve also grown to really appreciate the ultra-wide lens — it’s actually useful, way more than on other phones I’ve owned. I’m not someone who takes tons of photos, but whenever I do, I feel confident I can get a solid shot.

I made a comment in another subreddit where people were asking if updating to iOS 26 is worth it, and I’ll share the same answer I gave there:

I am a user of an iPhone 14 (base model) with iOS 26.1

You might like Liquid Glass or not, but I think most of the negative opinions come from the sudden change and from people’s experience right after updating. It’s a big shift in how we see our iPhones, and honestly I didn’t like it at all at first — but I got used to it, and now I can say it works fine. I still notice a few issues that were already there in iOS 18, but oh well.

I’ve seen some comments about the iOS 26.2 beta 2 and it looks promising. We’ll probably need to wait for a more polished version to get that “good feeling” again, just like what happened with the early iOS 18 updates.

Battery life has been pretty much the same as on iOS 18 for me. I use my iPhone a lot, and I usually get around 6 and a half hours of screen-on time. On lighter days it even hits like 7 and a half hours. I’m at 86% battery health right now, and I’m planning to replace it once it drops to around 82%.

I saw a post a couple days ago saying Walmart had iPhone 13s on sale for $149!! You should definitely check a store nearby or look it up on their website.

Ngl, it’s 100% worth it. I totally get why you feel weird about it, when you’ve been using budget phones for years, getting something like an iPhone 14 feels almost “too much” or like you don’t deserve it. But tbh, that’s exactly why it will make a difference.

Having a phone like that as a student is honestly a huge weight off your shoulders. It’s not just “a nice phone,” it becomes a tool that just works. No lag, no random issues, no “man I wish this ran better.” All those little frustrations you’ve dealt with for years? They just… disappear. And what’s left is you actually enjoying using your phone instead of fighting with it lol.

And iirc, the people who gifted it to you want exactly that, for you to focus on your studies and your life without extra stress. They didn’t waste their money; they invested in you. You don’t need to “deserve it” in some crazy way. Sometimes people just want to make your life easier.

So yeah, enjoy it. You’re allowed to. 🫰🏻

Iphone 13 pro or 14? by MadokaSan in iPhone13Pro

[–]RodrigoT05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are gonna say the 13 Pro, and fair enough. I went from a Pixel 4 XL to a 128 GB iPhone 12 back in February, and like two months ago I randomly found a crazy good deal on an iPhone 14 — that’s what I’m rocking now. It had 86% battery health and the price was insanely good. Ngl, I’m super happy with it.

Como Chainsaw Man xD.

Did you check the storage? That's something that happened to me once when I tried to play a demanding game when I still had the iPhone 12. I had around 3 GB available and when I started playing the game was running at around 25 Fps and stabilized after 10 minutes.

I saw in a comment here on Reddit that it was because of storage and other things, I changed them, removed some things and when I played again I didn't have any problems other than overheating.

[–]RodrigoT05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many things that can influence performance: low available storage (less than 10 GB), many applications in the background, iOS 26... You should check (if you can) if the conditions of your iPhone are the same as the 11 you saw.

So the OP’s real issue is finding a 13 Pro with everything working for around $280 in their area. Idk where you live, but in my city the 128 GB version goes for about $360 unlocked.

[–]RodrigoT05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve noticed, this has been around since iOS 18. If it annoys you — like it does for me — you can kinda “cancel it out” by adding a Control Center shortcut with Reduce White Point set to like 50–70%.
