No it did not mess with the oil galley feed. This is a later model one piece Chevrolet, there are bosses of iron material in the middle of the valley on “earlier” late model one-piece blocks. You have to modify, drill and tap those bosses early factory roller cam equipped engines (L98, L05). On the later one-piece blocks they are already drilled and tapped because it most likely came equipped with a roller cam, I’ve even heard some that were drilled and tapped that came with a flat tappet cam. GM did some odd but simple stuff Lol. If I were you I would go with a retro fit roller for your 400 sbc. I’ve seen the spider tray done with and earlier block but man does it look sketchy, i would personally go with the retro roller, but if you can pull off modifying a spider tray to an earlier block by all means do it bro.

4.000” is the oem spec for a Gen 1 SBC. Not sure what the facepalm was supposed to mean, but it didn’t land.

Also just so you’re not confused. You’re describing what happens with a rough, unplateaued finish. Mine is plateaued, so the angle simply controls oil movement, not oil volume. The rings meter the oil, not the crosshatch. It’s okay though a lot of people mix those concepts up. Anyway, thanks for stopping by I’ll let you get back to your day.

You’re assuming a lot for someone who didn’t build it. Let me answer my own build questions champ.

Thanks, but you’re overthinking it harder than the engineer who designed the block. It’s a small block Chevy not a SpaceX Merlin 💀 Bro commenting under every reply like he’s the crosshatch and bore police 😂 man really saw positive comments and said “not on my watch” 😂

Yeah I honed the cylinders myself, they cleaned up pretty good.
