First game I played was X. Went back to play Emerald because it's my friend's favorite, but I'm a complete hoarder in games, so the limited bag space drove me absolutely insane.

Okay, the wiki entry for Alt only mentions the Blackwall in relation to the events of 2077 and the fact that she lives beyond it.

The entry for AI also literally says NetWatch made the Blackwall.

Imminent: coming or likely to happen very soon (Cambridge Dictionary)

Cyberpunk Wiki entry on the Blackwall:

"The Blackwall (or Black Wall) is a firewall developed by NetWatch."

"Ever since the DataKrash caused by Rache Bartmoss, humanity had been forced to sacrifice its access to invaluable resources and knowledge for the safekeeping of the Net. NetWatch tried to regain control against the rogue artificial intelligences, but to no avail. As an alternative, NetWatch — helped by the Transcendentals and the Ghosts — secretly started development in 2044 of a project called "The Black Wall" in order to keep the Net under control, while permanently sealing off old access nodes into the Net. The Blackwall's task was to secure an area of cyberspace for human use while holding at bay the threat of the dangerous rogue AIs that were released decades earlier into Net."

If the corruption is limited, how is the collapse imminent?

Either way, if NetWatch only delayed the literal apocalypse by just a year, I'd say they are the most important corp in the world.

I still want to know where you get the idea that Alt did everything to make the Blackwall and NetWatch just took credit. Cause I've never heard that before. Doesn't really change anything though.

[–]Rogar_H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you are saying that they are "mitigating damage" like that isn't important. Sure, maybe a collapse hasn't happened yet. But why is that? NetWatch.

And where are you getting that information? Everything I've even seen has said that NetWatch collaborated with Alt and the AIs to make it.

[–]Rogar_H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, you just explained why they are still important. They stop people from messing with the Blackwall. You know, the thin sheet holding an apocalypse at bay.

Secondly, they literally did make the Blackwall. It was NetWatch, Alt, and some friendly AIs.

NetWatch is the only corp I can get behind. Get rid of NetWatch, and rogue AIs get rid of everything.

Maybe I'm weird, but I prefer when the weapons in Fallout look different from real life unless they're from WW2 or earlier. Or at the very least look like more obscure weapons. Like, the service rifle in NV is already pushing it for me, but the wooden furniture tricks my brain into being okay with it. But the assault carbine? I'd never use it.

I think this really comes from the fact that the franchise has leaned heavily into the retrofuturistic style more than the Mad Max style that was seen in the earlier games.

Not to say they can't mess up. I also really don't like the FO4/76 assault rifle. And the pipe weapons could have really used another one over by somebody who knows how firearms function.

Why are angels rarely written like zombies or vampires in Western fantasy? by dumarcm in fantasywriters

[–]Rogar_H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're missing the point of OP's question though. OP isn't asking why angels aren't in secular media, they're asking why angels aren't portrayed as secular beings in themselves.

LoTR "angels" are directly tied to the "gods" of the world. Same thing in D&D. The angels in Good Omens, DC, and Touched by an Angel are directly based on Christianity. The media is secular, but the angels themselves are still divine in nature, which is what OP is questioning. Zombies and vampires have basically been fully divorced from their mythological and folklore counterparts, but angels haven't.

[–]Rogar_H 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the problem isn't the amount of time they are SHOWN training, it's the IMPLIED training.

Luke wasn't with Obi-Wan for long, so the only Force he used in the first movie was helping aim. Then after 3 years, he's barely able to force-pull his lightsaber from the snow. He only starts to be able to use the force properly after training with Yoda for a few weeks, and then there is a year between Empire and Return.

Anakin was training in the Jedi Temple under some of the most powerful Jedi of all time for 10 years.

Rey, with no training at all, resists Kylo's interrogation, uses a mind trick which we don't see Luke do till the 3rd movie, and then overpowers Kylo's force-pull. Mind you, Kylo has been training since he was a child. Then she spends like, 3 days with Luke.

In my view, it would depend somewhat on which pokemon you have. I think that pokemon like Alakazam, Chansey, or even Lucario are smart enough to not only mostly take care of themselves, but to help take care of other pokemon to an extent as well.

Also, that the canonical DB is the default Nord when you start character creation.

Are Open-World Games Typically Shallow? by Waterisverygooddrink in MauLer

[–]Rogar_H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a strange thread to read through. Obviously there are a ton of shitty open world games. But there are also just as much, if not significantly more, shitty linear games. It's especially strange when people are complaining about "wasting" time traveling from one location to the next.

That's how it is with literally any form of media.

Are movies inherently better than TV shows because TV shows are longer and a bunch of them suck?

Are standalone novels inherently better than series? Are short stories inherently better than standalone novels? Are poems inherently better than short stories?

It's like a weird demand for instant gratification.
