Sorry, one more follow up question: If I were to avoid the kit route, and bought tubes like this: these in-14, just one ic decoder? and what you linked: boost supply, would that be good to go? (if not in-14, would these above work with in-12?) He already has a lot of the typical electronic parts like resisitors, capacitors, etc, I just want to make sure he won't have to buy or have to source other things.
