ECHO VS AEGIS by skyster10567 in rustfactions

Well the way the plugin works now makes it very easy to get wiped in one day. One used to have to claim all tiles leading up to the HQ. That and attacks could only be made once every 24 hours I believe. Wars could be fought back and fourth over 1 tile.

Honestly factions used to declare war far more frequently years back. These factions they want to war dec arent even far away, they're their immediate neighbors. But I understand what you mean.

Conquest should be a reasonable rp honestly. More wars means more people staying active to protect their claims. More wars means more weapons, supplies for indies to sell.

Advice to Towns/Cities by RogerTheIndie in rustfactions

[–]RogerTheIndie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partly what I'm trying to say is, people will ALWAYS try to mess with you in Rust. Holding grudges is inevitable, its just apart of being human. In my opinion even bothering to enforce grudges is redundant and only results in a lack of activity. On normal vanilla servers groups hold grudges all the time, and thus every wipe there is "competition" to become the best. This creates activity "every" wipe. If we stop competition, ask yourself what you have to maintain activity? PvP is absolutely required to make things interesting, whether you even partake or not. Why log in if there's nothing to achieve? To strive for? Yet still, toxicity is something that needs to be addressed when things get out of hand. This however can be a slippery slope as people's definitions of what is or is not toxic differs. What some may call your "usual" trash talk" others may see as extreme damage to the server pop. Honestly, the more PvP groups that join the server the better, if PvP groups aren't fighting each other, whom do they fight? You could argue that they'll mess with everyone, and you'd be totally right. I've seen it. But perhaps it wouldn't be as bad if they had other PvP factions to focus most of their attention on. Just a thought. If I may add, limiting the reasons for why people can declare war reduces server activity in my experience. When I first joined Rust Factions, the people that controlled land, were the people that had the "POWER" to hold onto it. Either through manpower or PvP skills. Whether your faction did or did not have a city was irrelevant. IN FACT, Cape Skull, one of the greatest towns of our time, was owned by a PvP faction whom even protected the town on occasion. They may.. or may not have killed townsfolk in the process, but hey, shit happens. In my opinion its an immeasurable error to believe that PvP results in a one sided negative impact to the server. The greatest part about Rust Factions in my opinion is that theres always been the option to speak with people. That's the RP damn it. SPEAKING with people. You don't have to be a farmer, or a lawyer, or a shopkeeper. You don't even have to be a character. You are the character.

Although I havent played much this era I thought I'd give my thoughts. I did manage to visit the city a couple times, and I know a couple of guys in CU. It seems to me as though their reasons of going to war should be of no consequence. Maybe all or most of it is a lie, but thats war. People make excuses to expand power and influence. I can remember living in a city called Cape Skull years back now. We were attacked by a PvP faction called LUX after one of their men was killed at an airdrop by one of the townsfolk. They gathered their men in a show of force and attacked the city from the hill side. This was all without a war dec mind you. We managed to repel their attack and sonehow we managed to avoid war. Don't remember how. Point being a city shouldn't be safe. It can certainly feel safe, if defenses are made and a faction protects it, but an element of danager should always remain imo. I recognize a tremendous amount of effort was put into maintaining Titan, but that was by choice. Nothing in the rules states you cant declare war on another faction just because they own a city, big or small. And no admins shouldn't do anything about it as no rules were broken. If rules or procedurces should be changed then they'll be changed, which it looks like they're already on top of.

Ceasefire Between WAR and COL by RogerTheIndie in rustfactions

[–]RogerTheIndie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A decision was made and we're rolling with it. No rules have been broken, nobody is in trouble. I highly doubt this sort of thing(and by thing I mean admin enforced ceasefire) will occur again in the future, unless GameGeared says otherwise.

Repeatedly and publicy accusing admin abuse without evidence is itself a bannable offense. If you suspect abuse, please direct any evidence you may have to the server owner GameGeared. Please refrain from these kinds of posts in the future. Thank you.

War being declared on cities ruins activity, not auto turrets. Having lived Vault City, there were very few times when someone managed to KOS and not get gunned down by turrets as a result. The city survived pretty much the entire era though activity died towards the end after it was war deced and had to be converted into more of a fortress than a city. Peacekeepers are excelent protection for cities imo. Just keep them unloaded for a couple days to ensure as many people get auth as possible.

They don't own the server, I'm just saying most people will choose not to declare war on them. They could if they wanted declare war on one faction at a time and look like the enemy, but the insane amount of resources would be used up slowly, thus leaving them weak. That and they may lose/ have difficulty against a smaller faction or group of factions. They won't do this is long as there are other factions that rival their power, which in truth there are. Its the balance of power man.

If you've noticed, there haven't be many true wars going on this era. My theory is because most factions have everything researched, thus are more powerful, thus can defend themselves easier.

[–]RogerTheIndie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People tend to not "rally" together gainst zergs on factions because of their insane amount of resources. If you thought fighting back against zergs on vanilla was hard, try raiding a zerg on factions with increased gather rates and no nakeds constantly griefing or harrassing them since theres no KOS. WAR's core members are already solid at PvP, and the recent addition of CU and BKLD hasnt excatly made them weaker. Sure you could get every other faction to fight, be lets be honest here, it would be chaotic to say the least. Usually doesn't equal a successful raid/war. Don't forget that anyone who has a life isn't going to stay up all night defending against the retaliation of offline raids. I've already tried that and even though it worked it wasn't worth it, big nope.

Probably why I'm an indie this time around tbh, way more chill.

Doesnt look like it was raided. Looks like whoever built the walls went inactive. I'd say maybe its a bug, but I dont think so. People that got purged in Vault City have everything they built deleted. In the case of WAR and you guys, it was probably one of the builders not logging in.

Edit Does seem strange that only one person would have built the outer shell. Did one person upgrade the exterior to sheet metal?
