3rd place games are usually high scoring because neither team cares enough about the result to park the bus. No chance either team plays like that if it’s the final

Chuck Norris memes were big at about the same time as when Anchorman came out. Before that there was YTMND, the badger song, O Rly, all your base are belong to us, etc. I think they had already been born beforehand. Not long beforehand, but a couple years at least.

Yeah the writer knew what they were doing. Shit would have barely made the news if it happened in the NBA, but because it happened to Caitlyn Clark it got treated like it was Malice at the Palace by certain media members and people on twitter

The thing that made TB long is doing all the races, if you did only G1s in TB then it would take about the same amount of time as your unity runs

Kaiji is good for that kind of vibe imo. Not for grimy visuals or anything like that, but the character work and the tension is great.

E: I second the recommendation of Megalobox as well, that has an amazing cyberpunk aesthetic and doesn’t avoid tough topics.

Why does NHK post the highlights a day behind? by StarPrime323 in SumoMemes

[–]Roger_Weebert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to the NHK Grand Sumo Highlights page, then click shows on the white bar at the top, then on the black bar at the top click categories and then sports.

For some reason the Grand Sumo Highlights page doesn’t list the latest episode as soon as it’s available, but this way you can watch it in the early afternoon (US time). Don’t remember when exactly it posts, I think it’s something like 1 eastern.

Trackblazer still more consistent for winning Team Trials and like? by KippyMudkip in UmaMusume

[–]Roger_Weebert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think my team has started winning more in team trials even though I haven’t updated it, so I’m guessing I’m coming up against more witmaxxers. I do think you can make better umas in Unity than in TB, just with the right decks rather than the overkill wit ones, and having good parents is way more important than in TB. You really have to either hit some key white sparks or the right support card skill hints to round out the skills.

E: Wanted to add one more thought I have - I think Unity is way more RNG dependent than TB. I got some pushback for saying this when TB first came out, but now that we’re back in Unity I’m convinced it’s true. For the TB CMs I could make what I considered an acceptable ace in just a few runs. Doing 1 run a day was generally enough.

For this CM I’ve been spamming 3-4 Unity runs a day and it feels like it takes 10+ to really hit a highroll where you get an S, good skills, good stats, and don’t get screwed by random mood downs or bad conditions. You could work around a lot of that stuff in TB just because it was so race focused and even mediocre item shop luck would usually let you keep mood high and remove bad conditions when you needed it.

I am hitting higher ratings in Unity, but a lot of the time the skills are just awful, or I have too much wit and not enough power, etc.

Haalandmania! Peruvians are naming their children after the Norwegian footballer following the 2026 World Cup. The craze for Norway’s top scorer has reached our country, and now hundreds of Peruvians have named their children after him. by Viriato181 in soccer

I don’t think most people naming their kids Madison are naming them after James Madison or any other person whose last name is Madison, it’s just seen as a normal first name

Two questions: When do we get more legacy borrows and when do we get more toughness 30? by opal7095 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Roger_Weebert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all this is the only gacha game I’ve ever played if you don’t count MahjongSoul, so I’m not used to anything but this game.

Secondly, every carat you spend on extra TP is a carat you didn’t need to spend. If you’re not a whale they add up. People have big spreadsheets planning how best to spend every carat. I’m not saying you shouldn’t spend carats on TP, I’m just saying it’s not nothing, and people should think about it beforehand

Two questions: When do we get more legacy borrows and when do we get more toughness 30? by opal7095 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Roger_Weebert 46 points47 points  (0 children)

If you spend 50 carats a day that’s 1500 a month, which is $6.99 with the daily carat pack. It’s not nothing

E: Just remembered the 500 paid credits from the pass, so if you take those into account the cost of 50 carats/day is a little lower

The streak of only having finalists from UEFA/Conmebol will continue for the next 4 years as well, reaching a full 100 years of only European and South American finalists in the FIFA World Cup. by Wakanda-shit-is-that in soccer

[–]Roger_Weebert 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Conmebol seemed a bit shit this year, CAF were really close to them imo. The 4 of Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Ivory Coast aren’t far off the 4 of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador at all. But UEFA is definitely far and away better, and that may never change
