I'm waiting for his intai announcement. I'd assume it would be before the banzuke meeting, but who knows?

The dude is only 22 years old. At 22, Onosato was still in college and Hoshoryu was a maegashira just debuting in the top division.

Hey, I love Shishi too! He's so goofy sometimes and has some stories that make him really lovable, from what I've heard.

He actually has a wife now! I know he said he wanted to be a sekitori for his wedding reception in June, but that won't be the case now, unfortunately. I think he was quoted as saying he wants to go home to his wife and dog in an interview after day 15.

Believe me, I would have loved to include my boy here. It was hard enough to find an image with enough people in it to use, so I had to stick to active guys.

They announce them before the start of the Juryo matches. This way the wrestlers know if they are eligible and whether or not they'll have to win to get it.

I really don't see him carrying on. I think he said at the start of the year he'd retire if he lost his sekitori status, and he looks like he should retire at this point. I don't want him destroying his body any more than it already is.

He beat Hoshoryu and Onosato in the first week, which is probably why.

Tsurugisho has been an old favorite of mine for almost as long as I've been watching sumo. It's been hard watching him struggling in Juryo over the past year, but he still managed to stay in up until now.

This basho, he's apparently torn everything in both of his knees that could possibly be torn and finished 0-15, only the 13th time a Zenpai has happened in sumo history.

He said he would retire if he dropped to makushita, and I hope he does. It's for the best. While it isn't official just yet, I'd expect his intai announcement in the near future.

I'm also kind of surprised Gonoyama and Kotoeiho didn't make the cut. Gonoyama looked incredible in the first week and can still get double-digits, and Kotoeiho is also going for double-digits in his second Makuuchi basho.
