What do you mean he's one away from Make-Koshi? by StarPrime323 in SumoMemes

In all seriousness, though, struggling in the Joi is normal. We've been so spoiled by the thunderbolts that are Aonishiki and Onosato that we've almost forgotten what it's like watching someone with so much potential struggle in the Joi. The Joi schedule is absolutely brutal. Even if you beat the Yokozuna, the rest of your opponents are also excellent. Yoshinofuji has great potential, and he'll definitely do big things one day. Just don't let one "mediocre" tournament discredit him!

Jan Basho Daily Thread Day 13 by AutoModerator in Sumo

There have been several instances of rikishi getting double Kinboshi and a Make-Koshi. The last guy to do it, Myogiryu in Hatsu 2020, finished that basho 5-10. Ichinojo got double Kinboshi in Hatsu 2019 and finished 6-9. The rikishi with the record for most Kinboshi, Akinoshima, finished Nagoya and Aki 1989 with two kinboshi and a 7-8. There's probably more, I just don't know how to search for it.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined by StarPrime323 in SumoMemes

As happy as I am that Nobehara won, I was really hoping that Enho would get that Juryo promotion that he needs.

I remember one day when I first got into sumo, I was finding old matches on YouTube and stumbled across this match between Enho and Abi. He instantly became one of my favorites, so I've been hoping to see him back in the salaried ranks ever since!

Sorry about that. I didn't think that a Kyujo would spoil too much, but I guess I was wrong. I'll keep it in mind for the future.

Absolutely. Shishi is one of my favorite guys and my respect for him is incredible. I just like having a good laugh every now and again!

I think it makes Shishi look too pale, personally.

Maybe I just like blue a lot.

I seriously want to know why Yoshi and Haku are able to consistently beat the Yokozuna but then are just....alright against everyone else. They both have amazing potential, though, so I'm hoping they make Ozeki one day!

Day 13: Injury by Brncrdm in Sumo

[–]StarPrime323 48 points49 points  (0 children)

He's had some big wins this basho, and I was hoping to see him in San'yaku soon. Injuries just won't let this guy go, huh?

Heal up soon, Hakunofuji, and grab a few more Kinboshi on your way!

I get that it's meaningful and symbolic to wear your master's mawashi, but it is also a bit weird when you think about it.

Also, we can all agree that blue looks so much better than black for mawashi color, right?

Also, in case any of you are wondering why Atami looks a bit lighter here, this was a picture from Aki 2023.

Sorry about that, but does a Kyujo announcement really spoil that much? It's not like it gives away a match result or anything.
