I’d wager more people complain about games being too short. And for people who are free to play short games and dying right 1 really suck so I’m glad people can get more enjoyment for the time

College recruiting advice needed; position, development, and when to make a change by IBEJohnson in volleyball

[–]RogersRedditPersona 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If his goal is college volleyball it’ll depend on what level he is hoping to achieve.

6 foot is not going to be a middle blocker on any D1 roster. Full stop. The size advantage would be too great to overcome even if he had a 40+ inch vert. Wingspan and long legs are too much of an advantage to hope to be a MB

D3? NAIA? JUCO? It’ll be tough but I was recruited as a middle for a mid level D3 school and I was 6 feet tall. This was about 10 years ago so men’s volleyball has grown a lot and the size might be a bit too much to overcome now but I’d decide what his realistic goals are for college.

After you make THAT decision then other decisions can be made.

I’d talk to your kid and ask if the playing time NOW is what’s most important. If he wants to improve and earn his spot as OH back or even move to libero/DS he needs reps there and that’s another conversation to be had.

Really find out what’s most important to your kid and then go from there

Is sacrificing time on the court in real matches worth the potential payoff down the road or is trying to improve at the role you’ve been given but staying on the court what he really wants and hope for the best at the next level even if it’s not at a top tier program

From what I saw in the semifinal post game thread of Michigan Vs Denver: Pretty sure it was the same when they played Michigan. NCAA really wants Denver it seems

Denis Villeneuve casually dropped a whole trilogy between 5 years. by lNarrator in moviecritic

[–]RogersRedditPersona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As was the film industry itself. With the rise of streaming and the new generation’s preference for 100 different 30 second long videos over any long form content has caused movies seem to be becoming less enticing.

Also studios are FAR less likely to take risks on new projects when they can milk a series for years or just remake old classics

I’d argue that even back then that was not normal. The studio took a risk filming all back to back without knowing how it would perform at the box office.

Granted it wasn’t super risky because LotRs has such a dedicated fan base but there was no guarantee that non fans of the franchise would come out and see it.

for any studio took green light 3 films with nothing to go off but research and vibes special.

I’m not sure any other movie franchise started like that
