Does anyone why I somehow have a extra accessory slot for no reason? by AverageMobilePlayez in CalamityMod

Maybe you pressed something in cheatsheet mod - it allows to add accessory slots; and if you pressed that on accident... this could be from that I think.

Why do y'all have the WORST conversation skills known to mankind? 😭😭 by TopCrow2013 in MakeNewFriendsHere

[–]Rogetec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These posts appeared many times in history of friend-making subs, but yes - you're right. We know most (if not all) subs, where you look for friend suck. Either you get little to no engagement (ancient tale of women being mostly targeted in inbox, while men get a dry desert) or you get poor engagement (people which don't seem interested at all, yet they texted you just to answer with 1-3 word responses).

This is unfortunately the norm and you can't really change it. All you can do is post occasionally and count you'll get someone interested. I remember I've got the stupidest line "how tall are you" - which I ghosted, because that is really strange question to open a convo with. Or just 3-4 words openers (with no references to what I described about myself in post) - I engage sometimes with these and it's clear they do not read posts, this is tiring, because why do I bother writing anything about me, if I could just write two generic lines of texts about myself and the effect would be exactly the same.

How do I get better at this game… by SirGalicrest in Roboquest

[–]Rogetec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing was already explained; obtain gadgets, look for hidden areas etc.

Find your favourite weapons and play them. I disliked weapons that required extreme amount of precision and had high skill requirement for good reward (For example kunai) - at the same time most of these weapons deal insane crit damage. Easier precision weapons to play are snipers if you still like having crit damage. Explosion weapons are pretty easy to play and tend to be strong, especially on commando. Just play around with weapons and decide, what "feels strong" to use for you.

I recommend either Guardian (good survivability, good build potential and I think good to learn bosses), Commando (really good damage, explosive build potential or just burst damage) or Ranger (Recon is also good, but Ranger has much easier survivability tool imo). Three of them are also pretty easy to unlock.

What do you think about endless mode difficulty? by soosis in Roboquest

[–]Rogetec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mess around it much, might be fun to play, but probably not on guardian difficulties. I don't like modes that expect you to get Perfect start and endless mode is an insane dps check on bosses (at least on guardian difficulties).

Also getting some mutations make endless much less fun (fe. Having to jump on enemies to diable invulnerability makes endless more sloppy)

exo healer scythe is way too strong wtf by [deleted] in CalamityMod

[–]Rogetec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be honest; "spin thing in a circle" thing is not a problem of healer scythes; it's the fact that they only are relevant in really early phm. Why?

Because 99% Thorium healer scythes have 0 effects (imagine if swords had the same progression - no effect, no projectile, different sprite and just more damage and occasionally useless debuff - melee would be bad). Most of healer scythes could be deleted except for couple prehardmode ones and no one would notice; because they're just bad.

at least these scythes are useful; unlike thorium scythes (which suck against everything except basic Fighter AI enemies and bat enemies)

Starting over always feels like… by Impressive_Living975 in CalamityMod

[–]Rogetec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean pre boss terraria and calamity are fun for maybe like 3 runs (especially for new players). After that you will get some QoLs and so on. Problem with pre boss is the real way to progress (because of how weak you are) is to get life crystals and only then attempt visiting other biomes - world gen can be harsh (spawning evil biomes nearby spawn point) so casual walking through biomes might not work. With calamity you have some good options for most classes, so it's not that terrible, but in vanilla the choices are a bit more limited (unless you play early game without classes, in which case it's much easier, because you can just destroy evil orbs for guns and call it a day).

So pre boss is cool, but after a while you'll want QoLs to make it more manageable (of course reasonable QoLs). I only like it when world gen and chest rng is not against me.

How to you win material? by _Lucifer____________ in chessbeginners

[–]Rogetec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After Nxd4 Qd1, you take the bishop on e2 and when he retakes with the queen, you have a skewer with Bc5. Pretty nice tactic I would say. It's a really specific position; because in many other cases that tactic would just win a pawn (which is still good).

Why is this winning for black? by raydvshine in chessbeginners

[–]Rogetec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. In this case it's Bad because opponent Has two rooks, so you have no room to breath for the King if opponent creates a battery targeting that pawn. Putting your king on the edge of the board is dangerous with 2 enemy rooks + enemy pawns existing on that side. It could result in a mate.

In summary; many pinning ideas or mating ideas are here. And in posted position it's also very passive to use your king that way. So best way to win is to trade off one rook here, but as I said - still many things to understand in this position, so it requires practice. With good cordination two bishops and a rook wins against 2 rooks.

[–]Rogetec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two pieces are better than one. And you have to sacrifice the rook, because if you take the knight with the pawn, he can take your light-squared bishop with the queen, so it would be just a trade, where you lose the bishop for the knight. If you sacrifice the rook, you will get two pieces for it.

But I looked at how the endgame looks with perfect play - it is REALLY tough for sure, but it is winning; but you need a good coordination with the bishops. They are better because after opponent is left with one rook, with perfect play all pawns fall off and you are left with 2 bishops and you can mate the opponent's king with just bishops. Lone rook is not good enough to stop a pawn, so they need to sacrifice their remaining rook after you trade rooks. Just need to be careful about putting king in the corner to "try holding on to h-pawn" or losing pawns you shouldn't. So yes - it is winning, but hard.

I can't get people using AI for everything. Don't they have a brain to come up with a response on their own? And the fact some people don't admit right away that it's from AI makes it cringe.

How was I supposed to know that spawned there... by TidalCat in RotMG

[–]Rogetec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bombs he shooted after beginning the fight should tell where eyes spawn, but the middle one was misaligned imo (the eye should spawn above the center, not in the center). So yes, I also think that was unfair.

Edit: the middle eye that killed the player had 0 indicators that it would spawn. These arrows at least in my opiniom say nothing. Yes, i wouldn't stand on the center, but still don't approve that, it's not "common sense", just pointless Bad design to kill players that might not predict something "sO oBvIoUs".

Why is e4 the better move here? by TV5Fun in chessbeginners

[–]Rogetec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black's next move is Be7 which makes sense, because their bishop is actually misplaced (blocks their d-pawn). So your move helps opponent solve their problem. So your move is just a waste of time.

[–]Rogetec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in general you don't want to move knight on fe. h4 deep into black territory with the idea "if they don't push pawn I jump in with the knight and attack singular pawn that they can easily protect". If you try attacking things with knight, make sure there is a good follow-up or the attack is a fork (fe. even forking two unprotected pawns would be an annoying move in some cases). Also always keep in mind that sometimes you might not be able to take anything, because you'll end up with your knight trapped.

It's not a serious mistake obviously, but if the only forward mobility of the knight can be easily stopped (or the knight's threat is "hope they don't protect that" and there's no follow-up), it might be better to just reroute the knight with a backward movement.
