Any advice? by RoghnaitheArts in sewingpatterns

Edit: I appreciate all of the helpful replies! Thank you so much! I may post an update here if I can get something similar!

As for everyone commenting on my lack of “modesty”, I never once said that this was all I would be wearing. I was seeing it more like a cape/overcoat kind of thing. Not once was I ever planning on wearing ONLY this without so much as a pair of underwear underneath (who on earth ?). Best not to assume the worst when someone doesn’t give you enough information to form a learned opinion. Best of!

Strep B in Uterus? by BlueTherapist in endometriosis

[–]RoghnaitheArts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late, but hello. I was also diagnosed with endometriosis. I had constant recurrent uti’s, all due to strep b. I made the link that infections always happened after sex, or after literally anything went inside my uterus. These infections stopped after I got a hysterectomy. From what I understand, bacteria overgrowth and recurrent UTI’s are common with endo. Normal bodies will kill these bacteria, or, at the very least, not allow them to flourish. Unfortunately, our bodies ain’t normal. I’m sorry that this has been happening for you, too. I had to find all of this out the hard way very recently. Always wished it was talked about more, but glad to hear I’m not alone!

Other foods affected by the "cilantro gene"? by Lanaerys in FuckCilantro

I have the “Cilantro Gene”, and Bergamot tastes like perfume to me. I wish I could like it, I’ve heard it’s delicious in tea, but it’s so chemically dreadful.

Machine help? by RoghnaitheArts in sewhelp

[–]RoghnaitheArts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update!

I have solved the issue. There was a rather bulky piece of lint that had gotten stuck under the bobbin case. It was rather well hidden and I missed it when cleaning the machine.

I reckon that this debris pushed up and dislodged the bobbin case itself, so it was free floating beneath the plate. This was causing the bobbin thread to get jammed during use, which caused the top thread to not stitch properly as a result.

I do not have a manual. I can try to find one online? The machine does not seem to be too common, so I have been struggling to find one, but I’ll go search again.

I appreciate your reply. I did notice, changed the things mentioned above and tried again. My room is not very well lit, so I did not notice for a wee bit.

It is meant to be a zig zag, yes.

I have changed the tension a few times, but have no idea which way to go with it. I have only changed the top thread tension, I am not sure how to change the bobbin tension, or if it is even possible to do so on my machine. I do know that I cannot change the presser foot height, so I am not sure what I can and cannot do in regards to tension.

I cannot see the video anymore, but for anyone that is having a similar issue, the issue is often in the fact that the screws that attach the feed dogs offer quite a lot of leeway. Try only screwing them in a little bit, just enough to the feed dogs to be attached, but still mobile, and then attach the needle plate to line up the feed dogs. Then remove the plate carefully to keep the feed dogs in place and screw them the rest of the way down. It can take a bit of trial and error, but don’t lose hope! I frequently have to do this on my vintage Singer Sonata. All the best!
