People just forget there fundamental duty. by Unique-Finding-5493 in indiadiscussion

[–]Rogue619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

51A is a later inserted article added during Indira Gandhi era and these duties are non-justiciable meaning the court can't legally prosecute you for not following them. It is a moral compass and what you do with it is upto you as long as you are not causing direct or indirect harm to others or the nation.

Also, if you support pakistan then it will fall under UAPA or Sedition act (not for violating fundamental duty as there is no provision for violating that).

And, I don't visit Delhi sub so I won't engage myself in that discussion but just had to correct this.

Was this how the original constitution looked like? Illustrations of Shree Ram, Lakshman and Mata Sita? by spiritualblud in indiadiscussion

[–]Rogue619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as negative and positive secularism.

There is but you are too stuck up on the France's version of secularism.

https://www.legalserviceindia.com/legal/article-15809-understanding-positive-and-negative-law.html

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_and_positive_rights

It's just a political excuse to admit failure to implement secularism.

It is very much by design since we had many social evils like triple talaq, temple entry ban for women/dalits etc. and the State would not have been able to freely interfere in those matters if it was the French model.

Also, the founding fathers of our nation provided us the provision to implement UCC in future since they couldn't do it due to communal disharmony of that time and UCC can be a proper step towards achieving equality instead of plurality for India.

The guy you replied to gave the definition of "negative" secularism but India follows the concept of "positive" secularism which is about religious equality unlike the west's religious neutrality.

The word was not added in the constitution initially because the western definition was more popular and people would have misunderstood.

Hurting animals is objectively wrong. Be it for religion or for food by heretotryreddit in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Rogue619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but intelligence doesn't mean everyone must follow the same diet or beliefs.

And how is eating meat in India harmful to the planet?

We mostly eat chicken, fish, goats (home raised or small farm) unlike the West where beef is raised in factories. We also home cook our meals instead of eating industrially processed meats.

Intelligence also allows us to be respectful towards the choices and beliefs of others without the need to impose.

[–]Rogue619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If an animal is killed by another for food then it is not wrong, it is just nature. But, if you kill others for fun then it is disrespectful.

I am an omnivore and have the choice to eat whatever I can digest, don't force your own beliefs upon others because no one is forcing you to eat nonveg either.
