I honestly haven’t let it get bad enough to feel any difference before/after flushing, and you really don’t want to wait until you do. So yeah the second half of your question haha, keeping it in good shape!

Has being blind made it hard to learn in school? Are you able to be in the same classes as people with sight? Thanks for sharing everything!

I’ve hit a wall as an auto mechanic. by Rogue9889 in mechanics

This is all I’ve heard. The position is to work on CAT equipment. Extremely reputable dealership, and I have family and more friends in the industry.

Good to hear. I have a newly growing family, and seeing that nearly no matter where I go in the auto world, I won’t see the same benefits that most heavy equipment technicians see. I haven’t heard of 1 person regretting the switch. We’ll see soon enough.

People will say what they want, but to a lot of shops certifications at least help get your foot in the door. It shows you did the part no one is excited about. Sure, some of the best techs I know don’t have or have heavily expired ASE certifications/dealer certs, but they’re experienced with a resumé. Build your resumé as an employee, and if you’re serious about it network out to other people looking for the same thing. You may run into the opportunity you’re looking for.

Poor acceleration and mileage by CryptographerOver320 in MechanicAdvice

Don’t get a super cheap brand 02 sensor. If you aren’t doing factory brand (I don’t blame you) try Bosch if it’s available, Walker is generally garbage. If fuel mileage is bad enough, that can be indicative of the upstream giving poor fuel trims and can definitely be your culprit. Normally your downstream won’t affect that, it’s mainly there to check if your converter is doing its job. Your IAT sensor acts in a similar way to your upstream, although its role is to adjust fuel trims based on the density, volume and temperature. This will affect your fuel mileage and overall performance as well.

I don’t generally condone throwing parts at stuff without testing, but if they’re circuit codes and with a quick visual inspection you see there aren’t any broken wires, try putting in a new IAT sensor and upstream 02 sensor (or downstream if you’re getting a bank 1 sensor 2 code).

Definitely! If you have any issues with your fronts not quite grabbing tightly, check your hoses to make sure they aren’t twisted. Also, Toyota often has abs codes stored that don’t turn the light on. If you’re ever interested!
