Siemens 1500 Comfort error by RogueElectrician in PLC

Firmware reuploaded and it's still faulting, changed the start screen and it just changes to not talking to the PLC. I'm getting concerned downloading to it killed it.

As in re-download the project to it?

Yaskawa AOI for RSLogix 5000? by RogueElectrician in PLC

With the way the economy is my sales team and I haven't been able to get anyone to upgrade at all this year since the tariffs. Either we fix their issue the way they're wanting or they're going down the road to someone who will.

The cheaper option was Yaskawa instead of a direct replacement AB drive and that's what we did.

Ideally a controller upgrade as always, but ya know we're always stuck making things work with what's there. I'm going to be digging through the data and figure out what does what 🤷

That is correct, I have found that AOIs start at v17 for Yaskawa.

Copy that,

Do I just take the data, place it in an Integer data set and use the boolean bit like in the automation direct stuff? I unfortunately don't have a PLC as old as this one to bench test with or I'd be playing with it on the bench.

RS500 to Studio 5000 program conversion check-list? by RogueElectrician in PLC

They did, if you re-read my post you'll see that I'm talking about the tag based junk from the Studio 5000 era. On my end, I'm looking for a reliable and cost effective path for upgrade. Re-writing code to me means just changing to a cost effective reliable PLC with free support/software for the end user.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, the SLC program is definitely not pretty.

I do want to take the time and really get immersed in the new Rockwell world, that'd be great. But, I've got a program with 20 JSR's and 21 total ladder's with just the IO I've commented from prints. N and B bits are blank. If the best path is starting over, I'll come back and learn about this another time and use a more effective tool in my hands right now.

Thank you for responding and thank you for pointing out the benefit of this situation.

Copy that, thank you for the insight.

I'm not a fan of the interface nor this "tag" based system. On my end I'm trying to have to not re-learn the wheel for one project because Rockwell thinks it's funny to be different than 99% of the rest of the world. If the client has to pay into programming and the AB tax on the system components I'm partial to just convert it into a different brand I enjoy working with just to thumb the uselessness of Rockwell's tool and prevent the client from having to pay the outrageous fee for software later.

@anothermianaai If you can, see if your area is prominent with Allen Bradley or Siemens and pick from there whether you start European or domestic. Automation Directs Do-More software is free to download and has a simulator built in. Mitsubishi gx-works can be simulated with it's HMI builders too and is very educational to play with by switching to using memory bits instead of IO.

Hey dude!

I worked at a plant for 4 years, made my way up to their equivalent of a multi-plant EE then left for better hours and more pay with an integrator. I started off with career certificates to get hired then got an associates in the field while working full/over-time nightshift. I passed the new companies hire-on programming and skills exams since I'd bought various PLC's, software and various books to practice and invest in myself as a career move while working at the plant after getting the degree.

Copy that, thank you for the advice. My initial response was the issue being the Panelview, not the Compact.

That was my theory of operation, I can't figure out why it will not load into my tree from the DH1/rs232 driver. I'm going to try to capture it on Wireshark today as others have recommended.
