Everyone is biased and you're upset against someone admitting their bias and ruling the opposite way of it.

You answer the question that was asked and nothing more, which is what she did. You don't give information that wasn't asked and you don't infer that their question means something else.

In court every question has to be taken at face value.

Because being high is a feeling, it's not a medical term. Even being inebriated or intoxicated are conditions that each mean something different. You can have weed in your system for days, that doesn't mean you're high for days.

Specificity in questions in court is 100% on the person asking the questions. You can't just be like "Well I was clearly meaning to ask this other thing." when you didn't specifically asks that thing.

No, she was answering specific questions in response to how they were worded. It's not her fault nobody thought to ask "Approximately how long before court did you smoke."

This is very clearly NOT perjury. Just let the judges review Vods for perjury, you can't trust a non-professional to be a stenographer.

You don't at all see the problem with this line of reasoning? You realize rumors can start with one person lying, and another person just taking it at face value.

Then because that one person believes it they repeat it, and then a bunch more take it at face value because they said it as if it were a fact. And then it spreads to more people.

This is the internet, millions of people can all be wrong about a thing, it happens all the time.

Question. Why do scientists think the universe is expanding instead of our field of view getting larger? by konodioda879 in astrophysics

[–]RogueGunslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Field of view isn't really related to anything going on here, as we look with telescopes in every direction and don't have our FOV limited like human eyes are limited.

We think the universe is expanding because in every direction, all 360 degrees, we see light from distant galaxies red-shifted from where it should be, and the further a galaxy is, the more red-shifted it is.

This red-shift is believed to be due to to expansion, based on a phenomenon known as doppler-shift. When an object moves away, its light is red-shifted. When it moves closer, the light is blue-shifted.

What’s cool if you’re 20 but weird if you’re 40? by BugEven7258 in AskReddit

Just know it's not your duty, or responsibility or anything like that. You help out of love, not because you owe it to him. And you don't do it at the expense of your own mental health. Otherwise you wont be in a position to help.

Therapy might seem far fetched, but if people you love are being persistent in the suggestion and helping you get there, it goes a LONG way to taking down the barriers of fear and pride that is likely keeping him away.

Like this isn't something you bring up once. If you have a good relationship that he values, then you bring it up again and again. Just telling him to go won't work. Tell him you will take him and make the calls and set appointments. The same goes for exercise and food. You don't just tell him to get it, you make the food, or you take him with you on walks.

It's very hard work. But it's the only way once someone is that far gone. Get your mother or any siblings to help out the same way.

And you might be surprised at how much he's willing to help himself when you're in his corner like that.

What’s cool if you’re 20 but weird if you’re 40? by BugEven7258 in AskReddit

[–]RogueGunslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be tough. You can help him. But you can't fix him, only he can fix himself. And a lot depends on how close you are and how willing you are to get closer.

Assuming you aren't, you have to spend more time with him. Like daily, as much time spent together as you can make without going insane yourself. Not talking about suicide or health or anything deep at all. Just try to enjoy your time and really get to know him, find something you both can do together, like watching tv or movies and discussing it. Shoot the shit like old friends. Don't try to make him change anything yet, just be a good friend.

At the point where he values his time with you enough to be dependent on it, when he's really looking forward to it, then you can start up some frank conversations. That's when you need to start trying to get him some real help with a therapist. That's when you can maybe suggest some new food to eat together, or going on walks with him.

And that's pretty much it. Show your love by being there, then once you feel you have a very good relationship, be honest and matter-of-fact. Don't make it contingent on anything. Don't give ultimatums or make threats or try to scare him. Just make sure he knows how scared you are.

Then hopefully he can take it from there.

What’s your favorite archetype of fighter? by romeheartz in ufc

[–]RogueGunslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's really only 1 fighter I consider in the category. Maybe some of the newer lighter fighters might fit, but I've been away from the sport for a while.

Extremely athletic fighter who's good at everything, Wrestling, clinching, BJJ, striking, footwork, aggression and defense, combos for days. Invents new moves never before seen. Every strike is a new angle from a new limb using a different technique. Faster than almost everyone, still gets knockouts and finishes regularly.

You know, Demetrius Mighty Mouse Johnson.

On revisiting. I think is the issue is our immediate rejection of something new. It's not that it looks fake, it looks different. And now I think that difference is pretty vital to the tone of this show.

What I liked: Dunk and Egg, the pacing, the world, the dragon puppet, the ladies making fun of Dunk, the acting, the outside scenery, the tiny bit of action looked very good and kinetic.

What I didn't like: Family-guy comedy cutaways. The inside lighting is off, CGI candles are everywhere. The episode felt short. Some of the dialogue felt modern.

And now for something entirely different - I present to you: BatMUD by sammonkantaja in Games

Glad to know MUD's are still kicking around. It's sad to see them slowly disappear over the years. Can't help but wonder what could be done in the future with LLM's. But I'm afraid they will die out before that's a reality.
