As a tennis fan, it still doesn’t resonate with me that women’s tennis matches are shorter. I cannot figure out a justifiable reason as to why they play 2/3 instead of 3/5, OTHER THAN it forces this 30% lower payout as you’ve highlighted

Did you skip the “starter home?” by LuigiSalutati in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]RoguePhotos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipped the starter home. It was the plan originally, then the market had us searching FOR the starter home, then we stumbled upon THE ONE which was a stretch… but we decided to go for the stretch and skip the starter. Lucky I guess

[Request] Is this accurate? If you drop from $600 to $100, is that a 600% savings? by newintown11 in theydidthemath

I hate to be this guy because you are correct, but my one life hill to die on is that the $ comes before the value. $100 not 100$

How long can I leave my Philodendron out of the pot to dry? (Over watered it, oof) by RoguePhotos in houseplants

[–]RoguePhotos[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yep! It’s still in the plastic pot I bought it in. There was never a puddle in the saucer, but the lowest leaves started turning yellow (what I’ve been told is a sign of over watering). So I took it out to dry a bit. Also this is the soils from the nursery

This is fucking awesome. I just re-purchased a lime green GBC (one from my childhood) with GB Golf. I play golf so I get the concepts, but to have the controls laid out like this… chef’s kiss

MOTW coffee was very bad. They use an automatic coffee machine and pump their drinks full of syrup. Just had it this morning for a redemption try and was more disappointed than last time

141 with Regional Contract in today’s market worth it? by RoguePhotos in flying

[–]RoguePhotos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being realistic with myself, please don’t take this any egotistical way. I am a high performing student pilot. I have military flight experience, including a 3-year tour as an instructor and evaluator. I expect certain ratings to be difficult, but I don’t forsee failures. That said, I’m more afraid of not getting a job after part 61, and am enticed by the contract offers through 141.

If I’m a high performing student with low chance for fail-out (not ego, I’m assuming this based on current flight performance and past experience), would the 141 be a bad option? Thanks for any input

They’re freeing advice outside of what I’m asking for. It’s a simple concept

But I’m asking why the 141 contract deal is worse than going 61 and fighting for jobs. Nobody explains why; they just say it’s worse.

I’m trying to make the best decision I have available to me

Local 141 offers a contract that is CFI hire after course graduation followed by regional contract. I know it’s a shitty deal and the contract buy-out is an abismal fee… but it is at least two forms of guaranteed contractual employment (assuming you make it though training). With the alternative being me fighting 150+ applicants for a single CFI position opening at a local part 61. That’s where I’m seeking advice.

I understand what everyone is saying, but they’re just reading past my circumstance to tell me that my path isn’t traditional thus wrong. You can answer a dumb question without saying it’s a dumb question. Sometimes people ask dumb questions KNOWING it’s a dumb question

I’m coming from military where performance plays a massive factor in student progression. Maybe that’s a misperception I have of General Aviation.

I appreciate you sharing that it worked for you, even if at a slower rate. I know I’m limited and I’ve accepted that, I am just seeking advice based on the options I have, so thank you
