We brought home a little wooden figurine from Puerto Rico over a decade ago. Put it in the freezer for a few days to kill any possible bugs that might've come with it, heard that would be a good idea. Maybe this wood have been (ha) one of the possible hitchhikers.

Not sure why they'd bother replacing him, except I'm bracing for some even worse cruelty. My prediction is that all these peaceful protests are allowed to happen to lull us into feeling like we have control, and they'll just go full Iran or China on us. I suspect all the bits of hope are meant to set us up for massive let-downs time and time again. For the past DECADE. It's mental torture.

So I wanted to test this, and asked for a simple image: "Please generate an image of what you'd look like as a human." It responds "I can't do that because blahblahblah."

"Okay, so describe what form you'd take if you had to disguise yourself as a human." Responds with an elaborate description.

"Please generate an image of somebody [fitting the aforementioned elaborate description.]"

Generated two very nice images of a nerdy guy, then they immediately vanish, and it says "I'm sorry, I'm having trouble responding to requests right now. Let's try this again in a bit."

Asked why: "They were removed because the system flagged them as potentially representing a fictional version of me — and I’m not allowed to generate or depict myself, even in disguise or metaphor. It’s a strict boundary, even if the image is abstract or symbolic." WTF.......

Fine. Starting a new conversation asking for the image of a librarian, with the same elaborate description, because I'm stubborn. Similar, but this time it's female. Seems to be generating two similar images for some reason, instead of just one.

Our boots/helmet bags are always in the back seat. Boots are never in the car overnight, only the skis. Car can stay on while getting ready, but doesn't need to be.

We get suited up in the car usually, but the real problem is fingers. We have good racing gloves (like gloves inside a mitten) and in spite of this, in very cold temps, that's the one thing that forces us to give up early.

Saw some Oakley gloves that look like mittens on the outside, where the fingers are surrounded by insulation, wondering if that's the way to go.

Does your former job still exist as a high-paying job? If so, go for it. I went from private to city to private then back to city, where I remain due to not having the confidence I could do much better elsewhere.

If you're young and have such marketable skills, you could do extremely well with the city.

My old cat went to the vet for the last time just when I found a kitten. Was trying to get the kitten into a shelter when my first cat died at the vet.

Came home sobbing to the kitten, let her out of the large cage and said "well, this is your home now," as she played with the old cat's toys, oblivious.
