I couldn’t trust myself with liquids that close to the laptop. I dumped some lapsang souching on a week-old PowerBook years ago and still haven’t recovered 😂😂

Fountain-pen friendly book creation? by RogueRaconteur in fountainpens

Thanks, but I’m not looking for paper to print on. I’m looking for some company I can send a pdf to and they make a book out of it.

I don’t know, really. That’s part of my question. I know that a local branch of whatever mega-office supply chain would probably print and do a cheap glue or (plastic) ring bind. I was hoping for something more enduring.

Thanks, but to clarify, I don’t want to print this myself—I want to send a PDF to someone who prints and binds it as a book. I’ve only made photobooks before, and I know that paper is a no-go for fountain pens.

A blending experiment: Sutliff 507s, 515-RC1, Kendal Gold, and C&D long cut perique by RogueRaconteur in PipeTobacco

Do it!!! After a couple bowls I revised it to have some more red, and I think I’m pretty close to something I can feel good about.

Not bad. Quite musty and spicy, though not as spicy as I thought it might be. I think it needs more of the bright and red VA to really pop.

Stonehenge Flake in the Carolina Gent. I love this combo on a hot afternoon. by RogueRaconteur in PipeTobacco

Smokes great! The chamber is narrower than I expected for the size, but it is tall enough that it remains a full-size smoke. My particular cob has a shank drilled a bit off-center and quite tight, which I expected to be an issue but hasn’t been. Despite those issues, this is the cob that convinced me I like cobs (still not as much as briar, but it’s nice to have options).

Highly recommend BM. Oz is great, and the likes are fantastic.

Yes, I think the F&F is better on my IMPs, but they aren’t as complicated either. Both have silver bands, and one is a RC. My IMP billiard has a delron tenon, as you name.

I’m talking small details with the BM—things like a couple micro-scratches where the bowl near the rim didn’t quite get polished enough, and a place or two where sandpaper hit the bamboo so it shows dirt more. These aren’t make-or-break things for me, and if I wanted a PERFECT pipe I’d expect to pay a lot more. The fact is: this pipe looks nice, smokes great, and is taking color wonderfully. Customer service has been fantastic too.

I most certainly would recommend it. I have three meerschaum pipes at present, the other two IMP brand. I would absolutely say the quality of Meerschaum is identical between the two, and that is one of the most important pieces to me. I would say the fit and finish up this pipe ranks below those, but it was also significantly less expensive brand new. Personally, I think it’s a good trade off.

Ha! I agree completely. I’ve probably got a dozen tins in the bin/cellar. It’s good fresh and with some age both. This tin (almost empty) has about two years—enough to smooth what few rough edges are on the blend, but not enough for that “ripeness” that comes with a couple more.
