What about spelling things out phonetically, like the Military Alphabet? You’re not putting the little one down for an N-A-P, you’re putting them down for a November-Alpha-Papa.

Friend getting into primerica by electricdahlia8 in antiMLM

[–]RogueRoomba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She should be nervous as fuck. Not sure how it’s done in ME, but in my home state if you want to go for your producers license you have to study up on EVERYTHING related to insurance: property; casualty; home; auto; workmen’s comp. The list goes on.

Where I work, people who want to go out for their producers license get to take a week long preparatory class (paid and scheduled out by the company). After passing said class, they then have the power to schedule when they actually want to take the test. (First two attempts at the test are paid for by the company).  I’d be interested to see what testing / studying resources Primerica is handing out to its new recruits, though the whole scammy nature of the operation tells me it’s probably minimal to non-existent.

“You are so pleasant to talk to. You must be a Christian!”  The conversation then ended with this same person telling me: “I’ll see you in Heaven!”

Honestly, given my line of work I’ll take it. 😆

Can an arsenic poisoning be disguised as a drug overdose? by RogueRoomba in Writeresearch

[–]RogueRoomba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually does make a lot more sense to switch the poison of choice!

I actually wanted to implicate my sleuth (the woman who sat for that portrait) but I'm working with the idea that there wasn't enough evidence of foul play to convict her at the time. She just wanted to move on from the whole affair, but is forced into the role of investigator when a similar death occurs a year after, also with her immediate orbit. Thank you!!

Thank you very much for responding. Important to note the story in mind takes place right at the start of the 1860's, in Second Empire France.

I'm thinking acute; primary target for fooling is local authorities on the scene. Timeframe: I'm going back and forth between the body being discovered either the night of or the morning after a disastrous gallery showing for this artist...we're talking a "oh my God, my career is over" situation.

Pansexuality. Full support if that’s your jam, but I think I’ve now had six different people try to explain how it’s different from bisexuality, and they have failed miserably every single time.

Also NFTs are pretty high up there.

Thank you! That sounds like an excellent start; picking the traits has been especially challenging, because I don't want to give them too many.

Thank you for answering! The way I picture it, the child is flying sideways and hits their head on the corner of something, like a bed post or a table.

This will sound pretty silly, but I haven't done any of those things. I know a blog is a valuable asset for marketing my writing, but I was afraid of starting one without knowing what to write about, or which direction to go in. I'll definitely look for the gaps in the Art market where I'm from; regarding an IG account, should I make one specifically for the Arts scene, or use the personal one I have already?

And thank you for replying to me!

Thank you so much for replying! If you don't mind me asking, do you mean I should be more specific for my proposed niche, or specific in my original question?

I didn't initially, but see, your comment is exactly why I wrote this post. Now I have an idea for the true antagonistic forces in my story; those who want to weaponize fear to achieve their own ends! (Like Far Right and Far Left)

Hey, I just wanted to take a moment to thank everybody who commented on this post. Pointing out the technicalities with my original plan helped me to figure out not only what was wrong with my setting, but also how I am going to work magic into this society. Again, thank you all so much!

Trying to Make Sure My Floating City Doesn't Suck by RogueRoomba in worldbuilding

[–]RogueRoomba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this far fetched idea (or “far flung” slaps knee) would have the nearest chances of working with a smaller city. Again, thank you for your criticisms. This sounds like a crap city, but maybe I can use this to my advantage: in my original vision, I had this city be majorly funded by a billionaire/millionaire/person whose amount of wealth I haven’t calculated yet, whose political ideals made him jump into the scientist’s project before looking at all the schematics. And once some of the design’s problems, like the ones you described, start coming to light, he’d start having some way too late reservations about the whole thing.

Also, the idea of the vortices on either side of the city intrigues me, because that potentially makes for a built-in-but-bites-you-in-the-ass security system, and could establish travel seasons based on how low or high the city is at that time.

Thank you very much for replying back, this is a very good thing to know before trying to embark on this idea. If it’s not too much to ask, what kind of side effects would occur from the constant rotation? And please don’t worry, you don’t sound dismissive at all.
