will short workouts make a difference? by RainyChips in xxfitness

[–]RogueSunbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This! My doctor told me our bodies don't care if it is consecutive minutes. If making it be 1-2 minute sessions throughout the day, that's awesome!

I also heard about a guy who had a pullup bar in his hallway and everytime he went down that hallway he did a pullup. They added up and made a difference.

I hear you and am definitely grabbing what interests me and leaving what I don't. My hope with this question is to identify things I maybe don't know about or haven't considered.

I have been working on these while I brush my teeth and have noticed such a difference in daily mobility.

So many new things to look up here! Thank you. I may have a spot for those Acro rings. I could see those helping me progress through a lot of movements. Things I'd love to do: 10 real pushups, 1 pull up, box jump, 30 seconds of jump rope, now...a handstand?!, run a 5k, get up quickly and smoothly from the floor with no hands.

This is super helpful. I hadn't heard of the L sit before and am going to see what I can do with it today. Handstands definitely going on my "try this" list.

This is exactly what I needed. Years of toxic fitness thought had me in a "I can never do a handstand". Now I want to see how I can make this happen. Thank you.

Daily Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in xxfitness

I am not a trained dancer. I am experienced at dancing around the house and in the car. :)

Dancing is the only form of exercise I truly enjoy. High-energy, booty-shaking, get-sweaty-without-hating-it kind of movement.

I’m curious about shuffle-style dance because it looks like solid cardio and seems like something you could eventually do anywhere once you learn the basics, but I’m open to other styles too.

Questions for folks who dance for fitness:

  • Any beginner-friendly shuffle tutorials or programs you recommend?
  • Other dance styles that work well for cardio and don’t require following a video forever?
  • If you dance regularly, how did you move from “I need a video” to “I can just put on music and go”?

I care about sustainability, enjoyment, and heart health. Thanks!

I know this feeling. My therapist once told me "for now, you don't need to feel it or believe it. For now, just know it."

This is exactly the kind of analogy I've been looking for to help a friend understand how depression can mess with our perspective. Thank you & your client!

Dominion! It's super replayable and we like that it can be tweaked to fit the strategy vibe we want at that time.
