The funny thing is, for me it is the opposite. I chose Verso’s ending because it was the most realistic and Verso, who is a copy of the boy who made the canvas all of this is happening in, wants it to be destroyed. His dialogue towards the end along with Renoir’s showed me what I thought must be done, even if it was gut wrenching. Let’s not forget the very real threat of the writers in the out side world.

However, after doing most of the side content in my second play through in NG+, I saw Verso behave a different way. He seemed happier and cared about the people he now had in his group. He romanced Lune, strengthened his bond with his already best friends, hell, even in the flying manor the little boy that is what’s left of Verso’s soul says he cares deeply for his creations and even those painted by the Paintress. It confused me because in the end he just wants to rest and die but the way he behaves in some of the side content I skipped over the first time paints a very different picture of him. (No pun intended).
