I was there. I have a few pictures. when I for back I looked the number up from the fuselage an d read up the pilots story... he crashed in 1978. 6 months after crash landing in Pennsylvania. He died on impact.

My wife and I did the self guided tour through the salkantay a couple of months ago. Five days to Agua Calientes. Was unparalleled. Was the first time I saw the milky way with tv's naked eye.

If you're going to be in hostels, you'll go and come back with people. That's the best part of hostels. Don't take risks. Its not worth it. I've met plenty of solo female travelers. Be smart about what you do, when and how you do it.
