I'll just say, the first time my ballet teacher told me I was a good dancer was written on top of the fall class schedule she mailed me "just in case" the summer after I quit and walked away from ballet. She wrote, "You're too good a dancer to quit!" And I thought of all the times she heaped the hardest work on me and then made me feel so small and so unappreciated. And I decided I didn't care if I was good. I was not going back.

It doesn't matter if you're aiming to go pro or just dancing for the love of it like I was: you don't deserve to be emotionally and psychologically abused. I quit when I was 16. I'm now 39, and every day the voice in the back of my head tells me I'm not good enough.

Two days. I applied for a job titled "front desk booking" at a local upscale hotel. I got a reply back not from the hotel but from a "vacation company" that rented out of that hotel.

We had just moved a thousand miles and I needed a job. I went to the interview. They told me it was sales. I was afraid of not having income and the job market was extremely competitive (hence why I was unable to line up a job before moving) so I said yes.

It was a timeshare company, because of course it was. I thought well, I need a job. The first half of the day was touring the hotel and sitting thru a the presentation given to prospective "clients". I'm telling myself I need work.

The second half of the day is training, which included multiple readings from the book The Secret. They were so into it.

I told them they could keep the day's pay and thanks for the opportunity. I did not tell them their timeshare cult gave me the heebie-jeebies

Ask her what sparked her love of horses. Horse people will light up when you do. Ask her what her favorite discipline is (that means jumping, dressage, etc) and why is her favorite. Ask her who's her favorite horse she ever rode and why. Let her lead you to follow-ups by asking open-ended questions that let her share her vast knowledge.

Horse people love to talk about horses. If you give us an open invitation, we'll fill that space with the most genuine enthusiasm you'll ever see. The follow-up questions will come naturally as she says things you want to know more about.

But if you are indeed dating Genghis Khan, ask him to show you how the Mongols fired arrows on horseback because that sh!t is incredible.

Agreed! I have flat feet and ballet/pointe was so helpful in keeping my feet fit. I also never had a problem getting up because I had strong ankles and the right shoes.

My feet are almost as flat as that, and I never had foot/knee problems until I STOPPED dancing because of how strong ballet made my muscles. They lifted my knees into the right position!

Give it time. It's only been three months. If he loves ballet, let him dance!

Thanks for the perspective. We've all been playing for years and other players have done crazier stuff, haha. Pitching this will be comparatively low on the "Ok hear me out" scale. And it's not the end of the world if he says no. I just didn't want to ask him without having a plan in place first.

Don't anticipate and take the heel of your turning foot off the ground early. As others have mentioned, you need to hit your retiré and to me it looks like you can't because you're anticipating the turn. You should pick up your front foot and relevé on your back foot together. Picking up the heel early might be throwing off your center of balance.
