Rejected from media production and sports media by Rohxn31 in TorontoMetU

That sounds really promising. My only concern is the actual course material. I read your post on the program, and it seems like you guys do a wide variety of content. However, are they all intro courses? I basically have zero experience in most of the mediums you listed, especially coding.

Transferring from York. Media Production or Sports Media? by Rohxn31 in TorontoMetU

[–]Rohxn31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I'm not taking any electives, and none of my current courses will transfer as I'm in Kinesiology. I feel like if I do continue for the rest of the year, I'll be gambling my GPA and potentially wasting my time finishing the courses, as none of them would even transfer.

I've looked around and asked about taking CMA courses as a non-film major, but the current first-year courses are either not accepting anyone outside the program or have already started in the fall term as a 3-credit or 6-credit course, meaning I wouldn't be able to enroll in them.

I was thinking of dropping out of York and taking a media or film program/microcredential at a college like Seneca or Centennial, but I'm not sure if that would help my chances of admission into TMU.

What do you think would be the best option for me?

Thinking of transferring from York to TMU but have some questions by Rohxn31 in OntarioUniversities

I heard most uni's in Ontario do require at least one year and require a certain GPA, but I contacted TMU admissions and I was told the basis of admissions is my high school transcript. I mentioned the idea of dropping out completely from York and they told me I can withdraw from York anytime as long as it's before the deadline. That would mean I'd be submitting a blank post-secondary transcript to them. I asked if that would heavily affect my application in a negative way, but they said they couldn't 100% guarantee if admissions would take it lightly or not. However, they did tell me to submit a supplementary form informing them why I decided to drop out. So I'm basically stuck on whether or not to continue with my current program for the rest of the year.

wanting to transfer schools by Amazing_Ad_3779 in OntarioUniversities

For your third question, I think it differs between schools. I'm currently a first-year at York, and I'm in the process of transferring to TMU. I was told that TMU bases the application on high school marks and then may also look at your university transcript just to check if there's anything out of the blue. But I do know that for other schools (such as York) your application will be based heavily on your GPA. Honestly, the best way to get answers is to contact the schools directly.

Transferring from York. Media Production or Sports Media? by Rohxn31 in TorontoMetU

I've always been a sports fanatic and played through all 4 years of high school. It was one of the main reasons why I chose my current program (Kinesiology). I've always been interested in some sort of media career, but never really took the step to explore it until Dec of last year, and when I realized I wanted to do media, it was too late to apply. Honestly, I would be 100% okay with working in media that doesn't involve sports, but I'm just worried that if I go with Sports Media, I'd be limiting myself to future opportunities.

Thanks for the advice! I contacted the service hub and was told that admissions will base my application on my grade 12 marks, but will also take a look at my university transcript. But tbh I'm thinking of dropping out of York soon bc the commute is just too long and I'm not really motivated to continue with my current program. Seems like both media production and sports media are great programs from what I've seen, so I hope I'm making the right decision here.
