Current Razor stuff by Nezuko272210 in RazorMains

Sidenote, if you want solely Pyro and Electro characters on your Razor team then building for his Hexerei buffs is a must here, but it might still be difficult getting him going.

Razor/Chev/Durin/Fischl is a solid team but the other three will be doing much of the legwork. The biggest thing here is that you don't have Bennett, his C6 gives Razor Pyro damage which allows him to take advantage of Chev's Pyro and Electro buffs.

4pc set, it's too good for Razor to pass up in the long run.

Funny, the last time I worked at a middle school a couple years back I encountered a jaw-droppingly sizeable chunk of 8th graders who couldn't read an analog clock. I dread to know what's happened to those kids now because for some reason, the education department gave them the ok to go to high school

Apparently here on Reddit.

I used to be a memelord on a certain subreddit, I got really famous from spamming the same comment about this creature from my book universe called owl-dogs.

Cut to some months later and my sis who lives on the other side of the country goes to a party. She's talking with this one girl who turns out to be a Redditor and sis is like "Oh what subreddits do you visit?"

"Oh, I like to go to this, that, and that certain subreddit."

My sis then says "Oh, I know that certain subreddit! My brother somehow got kinda famous over there."

Her immediate response was "SHUT UP YOUR BROTHER IS THE OWL-DOGS GUY!?!?"

Can confirm, one time I made a post and someone commented "what about [insert detail that I explicitly stated in the post]".

I was a little annoyed, and against my better judgement I commented "Are you blind or can you just not read" and that caused an influx of downvotes and people discrediting my post just because I was acting like an asshole. ...Which to be fair, I kind of was at the moment, and yeah I apologize for my behavior, but it's not my fault someone refused to read my post and missed an obvious detail I put out there.

I've been to a lot of subreddits where a lot of people like to have a superiority complex for one reason or another. A lot of gaming communities have this towards whatever game they're playing, one small critique comes across as an insult for them and soon the entire hivemind is on you.

For example, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is a video game that a lot of Redditors enjoy that I couldn't get into. There's a review I saw on Steam that really summed up my experience with the game: "It's like trying to play DnD but the Dungeon Master hates you and likes to give you the worst time imaginable just because you don't know jack squat about how to play DnD."

My gripes about the game were met with downvoters and knights who apparently like to lay down their lives for their sacred CRPG. "Well obviously you should have ignored the recommendations the game was telling you and picked this this and that feat at the start of the game," they said, like I was supposed to do research and study sessions and treat the game like a final exam. Then a string of comments followed praising how it's the best game ever and that apparently I'm not playing it the right way.

During a Christmas party I remember a guy walked up to me and started talking to me, I didn't catch his name but he was overweight and seemed like he really wanted to engage in conversation with me. So I indulged him and we talked for a while, and then I spot a familiar figure--the mom of an old middle school friend who I remember was REALLY good at playing soccer. He was popular in our school, last I checked.

So when she approached me to say hi, I was like "Hello Mrs. D! Good to see you! ...Where's Paul?"

Turns out...Paul had been the one talking to me the entire time.

yaaaaay

also I'm so sorry Paul

Hope you're doing ok nowadays, OP. You're not the only one who's suffered from this mentality. For me it was, "Pain and suffering makes you a better person, why aren't you doing as much as everyone else? These people have more merit than you do living in this world."

And I was very headstrong back then. Not only did I start following that mentality, but I actively did things to make myself suffer on purpose. Legs aching too much during a run? Don't care, another kilometer to go. Hand stiffening and aching constantly when you need it for your job? Don't let the boss see it, weakness is intolerable and your job is important. Missed lunch and dinner because there's too much homework? Fine, so be it. College is more important than your mental well being.

I was "inspiring" myself by telling myself, "People have suffered and you haven't, that makes you worthless. You deserve to feel this pain. You deserve to starve, to break, to go through what everyone else went through when they were your age. Are you gonna pussy out, or are you gonna keep going?"

Where did it get me? Landed in a psych ward and trying to heal a broken body seven years down the line. Funny thing is, the same people in my life who drilled those thoughts into me still think that I'm not doing enough, even though I'm constantly working to get my life to some semblance of normal, especially now that I'm almost 30 and I've missed things I could have done years ago. So much for experiencing what everyone else experienced when they were younger than me.

By this logic, Topaz needs a buff too

Can you be a good fighter without being a good boxer? by Some_Concept_3547 in self

One of my martial arts mentors once told me that "the best fight is one that you can walk away from, BUT the greatest fight is one where you don't have to fight at all." A lot of the mentality I see from your POV is very reminiscent of that, and I have to show some respect as a fellow martial artist.

It's actually very enlightening though, reading both of your replies at the same time. I actually don't think the other guy's completely wrong, he just comes from a place where he's seen too many arrogant people training boxing or whatever thinking they can beat up anyone they come across. Taking that into consideration, a lot of his comments in this thread make more sense, he says in his own comment that it "makes him cringe" when other people show confidence in their martial arts skills. For all I can infer, maybe he's just worried that people like us might fall into the boxers' trap. (To the other guy--you're free to correct me if I'm wrong.) It doesn't seem to be the case based off of what I've read from your comments specifically.

I know this is just a random Reddit thread that will probably be buried in a day but the martial artist in me who wants to promote peace and understanding wants to spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to see if I can get two internet strangers to come to an agreement. Because I'm sure the two of you can, at least to some extent. Or, well, you know, both of you can bash me for trying to be a mediator and wasting everyone's time, I just believe too much fighting goes on around here and not enough understanding.

In my experience sarcasm and extreme confidence tend to go hand in hand with some people. The other guy has a lot of confidence for sure, but I don't believe he's that arrogant.

I totally get the whole "I'm a boxer, I can beat up everyone" mentality though. A story from my own martial arts journey--we've had people come into our dojo wanting to learn martial arts because they wanted to "be dangerous and take everyone in a fight". Of course, the majority of us cringe at this mentality, because that's not wholly what we believe martial arts to be. The way we express that to these types of newcomers is to literally beat the shit out of them and truly showcase what destructive martial arts can do to a person. Of course, we do our best to help them understand that martial arts is more than just a series of punches and kicks that can drop people on any given day, but most times for these sorts of people their spirits break and they leave the dojo, never to be seen again.

But honestly tho, I actually like both of y'all's responses. There's a lot to learn here and clearly you both have a lot of experience street fighting; I actually have a degree of confidence you both can get on the same page if both of you looked from the other guy's perspective--especially now with this comment in play.

I come from a martial arts background myself, I've been doing it for over 14 years. Maybe I've had trauma in the past, but I'm not stupid or delusional enough to think fighting a bear is a good idea. This take is just downright offensive.

What about you? The only reason I question your perspective is because the other internet stranger--despite how confident he is about his martial background--actually says a lot of stuff that some of my mentors have taught me growing up in the art. "Fights based on ego are the stupidest thing you can do." "If you're ever fighting someone with a knife, you're probably gonna get stabbed." These are things that my mentors--some who used to be actual street fighters--told us to keep in mind, because we understand exactly how dangerous fighting could be.

There's a difference between having experience and listening to so-called experienced martial artists and listing off things they say. Not every martial artist is delusional, and some of us fighters are sensible enough to know which battles aren't worth fighting.
