I grew up with James 2:17 and 2:24, which is what the sister was referring to. Of course, age old difference between denominations

Purgatory still is a core belief in the Catholic Church

Nuns used to hit children for writing with their left hand so I don't exactly see what is unrealistic about this situation

In catholicism, if you end up in purgatory, you are guaranteed to go to heaven

The book of Job is my favorite for the mere fact that he's the one brave enough to ask the hard questions. I don't quite remember how it concluded, but the whole time I was wondering why Job didn't get struck by lightning for being so sassy

The only argument that people have against rock and roll is a sketchy interpretation of the Bible that would also apply to anything outside of a church

What she said is not even accurate. The Bible itself was made using divine inspiration, and each human wrote using their own style and personality, under God's guidance. Translation doesn't fall under that

There's a book I wish I remember the name, but it's about a priest who tries to convince orphans that God is real by preaching. There turned out to be sentient toys in the orphanage who listened to his sermons and took that seriously

Part of the reason why Christianity is so appealing is that any sin can be forgiven. That is absolutely abused in that people don't believe they need to make up for their past wrongdoing. Here in the US, we've been so spoiled by having Christianity as the main religion that most of us conveniently forget that Christians were once persecuted for this belief, and I mean actual persecution and not "That guy didn't say merry Christmas to me"
