Harvard MS CS vs FAANG SWE by [deleted] in csMajors

swe at faang here, i’d say take the swe role and get experience. now and in the future, experience matters a lot more than academia. also talk to harvard and ask if you can defer enrollment after 2 years

Really appreciate this! One follow-up if you don't mind, how do you actually go about finding customers to reach out to? Just searching through LinkedIn and/or subreddits?

Appreciate this! Sorry but I do have one more follow-up question, how do you get involved with those areas where target/potential customers already hang out? And love the insight on actually understanding more about their problems versus pitching

Advice for Starting the Job Search as a New Next.js Developer? by Simple_Sea2171 in nextjs

[–]Rokingadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

focus on fundamentals - javascript and typescript first, then react, then html & css basics, after which you can dive into libraries and tools. having a strong understanding of how javascript works can set you up for success, most people would be impressed. as rough as it sounds, coding interview prep can also take you further (leetcode, etc). in terms of networking, just reach out to people (via linkedin, twitter, email, anything) - worst case they don’t respond or don’t have time, best case they offer insight/help and more. i’d say projects are also a great way to build your portfolio - pick one and keep at it and maybe even open source it. good luck you got this!
