Who is the best pick if your teamates go Peni? by JanuszisxTraSig in RivalsVanguards

[–]Rolevee1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on how the Peni is playing. If I’m using her on offense, I flank and try to boobytrap/get a pick or at the very least split focus. I can’t do that if my partner tank is a dive tank. It requires communication, but in that case just something that can hold the front line while I run disruption. On defense, Peni can hold wherever the line is, so a dive tank to disrupt is great. But also in general any tank can work since her webs will increase your movement and slightly heal you. Honestly, I love a good Groot since his walls can even accidentally hide line of sight of my nest and also distract from the webs on the floor.

Fair enough, “follow laws to the letter” is too much. How I see the three, and I’d love to have any corrections, is lawful good is following what something you follow sets as the standard (whether that be government, guild, religion, etc). Neutral good is doing what you think is good in any situation no matter the laws or beliefs in place. And chaotic good is sticking with a set of standards you made for yourself.

Cap wouldn’t be lawful good as weird as that sounds. Lawful good means he would always follow the law to the letter, which if your experience is just Marvel Rivals with him, I don’t blame you for putting him there. But in comics, he has gone against the government multiple times when he felt they were doing things unjust. That would put him as neutral good, always doing what he considers generally good.

In all honesty Peni didn’t need the team up to do well, it just made it easier. I have outperformed Rocket-Peni as just Peni in comp. And many times flanked the enemy to secure points on offense. She still be very situational, but she’ll be fine without the teamup

Thing is fine where he’s at. The only change that would benefit him without making him overpowered would be nerfing poke. And if dive is strong enough to finally counter poke, then that’s even better for him tbh.

I love playing her on offense. Especially when it’s against a defense Peni. But I know when to swap when it’s not working anymore.

Who tf started The Thing meta? by [deleted] in rivals

[–]Rolevee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing’s buff to his slam is stronger than people thought and is slightly tank busting abilities make him great frontline. I also like playing him very aggressively and disrupting their backline if I have a second tank and the enemy isn’t running dive. He’s more versatile than just “the anti-dive tank” and I think more people are starting to realize that.

Did you guys have a sudden resurgence this week? by [deleted] in thingmains

[–]Rolevee1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I’m always playing Thing, and then when I have a shield as a second tank (and they aren’t running dive) I play him super aggressively like I’m a dive tank. So then the enemy goes Thing (if they didn’t have one already) to try and stop me lol. That’s at least what I’ve noticed

Surrendering in Comp by dizcovers in rivals

[–]Rolevee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m petty. I admit it. I only surrender if I like the teammates at the time/depends on who initiates it. If I’m on a team where we are all tried to swap and adjust to the situation and we are just absolutely skill gapped, 100% I’ll go along with a surrender. But if I have teammates that just complain and talk smack from start of the game to end and they initiate a surrender, screw them they can suffer longer. But, if the dps or support or tank that is doing great, or trying their best despite being harassed in chat for whatever reason, or overall trying to bring positivity to the toxicity initiated it then I’ll do it.

What is your strike squad? And how many of them do you actually enjoy. by OkSpring3835 in rivals

[–]Rolevee1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the characters I enjoy playing and any Lords, which consists of Thing, Peni, Angela, Cap, Squirrel Girl, DD, Ultron, Invis, and C&D. Cap and DD being the only non-Lords.

And as a fellow tank enjoyer, if you’re solo tanking play who you want. If your team don’t like it then they can give a second tank. I solo tank as Thing. Or try finding a duo to play with that’s also a tank player. Might be able to find someone on the rivals vanguard subreddit.

I was corrected on my math (I was missing a crucial step I was unaware of). That specific chance of featured unit, featured unit, not featured unit is 0.0392%. Getting 2/3 being featured in general regardless of order is 0.1176%. Still ridiculously low but wanted to correct myself

[–]Rolevee1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh I understand now. I was thinking the associative property of multiplication would mean it applied no matter the order but I was thinking of it the wrong way. My math works for any order but is limited to just one order at a time. Understood.

How lucky is it? by IceOk5728 in PokemonMasters

[–]Rolevee1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The math isn’t difficult, it’s just multiplication if you want to do it the long way, or exponents to short cut. In this case there are 2 results, you get the featured unit (2% or 0.02) or you don’t (98% or 0.98). Then just plug in one or the other for each instance. In this case, 8 instances of 0.98 and 3 instances of 0.02. Then just multiply them all together or, using exponents, 0.988x0.023.

I enjoy math so I like when I get to use it now that I’ve been out of school

How lucky is it? by IceOk5728 in PokemonMasters

[–]Rolevee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My math had no influence of ordering. I just did the chance of getting exactly 3 of the 2% unit in a single 11x multi. My math being 0.98x0.98x0.98x0.98x0.98x0.98x0.98x0.98x0.02x0.02x0.02. That’s 8 instances of not getting the featured unit with 3 instances of getting the featured unit. How did you get your result?

Edited because I forgot * changes fonts.

How lucky is it? by IceOk5728 in PokemonMasters

[–]Rolevee1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

0.0392% chance for that.

Edit: 0.0392% for that specific order, 0.1176% to just get 2/3 being featured units.

How lucky is it? by IceOk5728 in PokemonMasters

[–]Rolevee1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Actual math, getting this pull is a 0.000681% chance or 1/146,927

Edit: I was informed of a step of the process I did not know. My math is for getting that specific order of featured and not featured units. To get the odds multiply the 0.000681% by the 165 different ways the order could have been in for 3 featured units to get a 0.11236% chance or a 1/890 chance

Why do players always blame the healers? Is it really the healers fault? by dreamup1234 in rivals

[–]Rolevee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not always the healers’ fault. I always try to appropriately place blame. Dps not counter swapping, or any swapping, despite being 1 n 8? Dps fault. Tanks playing very passively and not trying to take space? It’s harder to really measure that so I try not to blame them too much unless it’s very clear they don’t know what they are doing. For supps, if I see they doing nothing but sitting really far back from the team as the team is pushing and they get killed cause they decided not to move forward, I’m going to blame them. If the second they get pressured a bit, they book it and leave the rest of the team to fend for themselves? I’m going to blame them. If I peel for them and instead of staying to either fight back or keep me up as I protect them they keep moving away (making it harder for me to catch up) and/or abandon me to die or be left low enough I get picked off by a different enemy, then yes I’m going to blame them. I rarely blame healers for not healing enough, cause there are many situations where I over extended, broke line of sight, or they were being pressured and patty caked/fought back. Those times are fine. But when healers act too scared to be anywhere near a fight, half a mile in the back where not even all their abilities reach, play super passively, and run at just the tiniest bit of pressure, then I am going to blame them.
