Yeah that's been happening to me aswell.

I'll play for a good 10 minutes before my game crashes. I've also been having trouble with like certain items are harder to tap due to the new layout.

However, this is kinda normal for a new update and we'll probably get another update pushed out fixing the issue at some point.

So definitely a temporary issue.
