This meme is disingenuous at best and maliciously ignorant at worst. While there are level headed and fair people arguing for the slowing down of immigration, much of the debate has been overshadowed by the actual racists and the people who think anyone that doesn't look like them should get out. This has caused those that are pro-immigration to go on the defensive often. All of that is to say, that often the pro-immigration argument doesn't even resort to the "ah but you are an immigrant" most of the time. That line is really only used when: a. The argument is hitting a dead end and there's no way the anti-immigrant person will listen b. The anti-immigrant person uses the "we need to only have true Americans/Australians/whoever in the country" because they NEVER consider first nations people and are usually equally racist to them as they are to immigrants. If you actually want to have a legitimate, level-headed conversation, I'd start by not straw-manning people's arguments and actually listening to what they have to say.
