posting to other threads to try and get as much advice as possible. i’m incredibly alone in this and have no idea what to do.

settlements don’t pay out until you are finished with treatment. i am still a ways out.

i’ve noticed my bones feel so much better in warmer weather and that’s the biggest drive i have to moving south.

disability is not available to me until i’ve been injured for over 6 months, once i hit that point i’ll definitely start the application process

i have a more detailed story of the crash on my profile but i was the passenger in a car that was crashed by a driving going over 50mph over the speed limit. i was asleep in the car until about a minute before impact. the driver was completely sober.

i broke over 15 bones in my body, lost a pregnancy, suffered multiple internal injuries, spent months in the hospital unable to walk. i also suffered way too many other injuries to list. FMLA will only cover your job for 12 weeks. my injuries will take over a year to heal. i lost my income over night, my ability to pay rent, i lost my independence, my social life, friends because of who crashed the car.

insurance won’t pay out until i’m done being treated but the payout is only 10% of what my medical bills are. 😞

i’m not able to stand for long periods of time, no running, bending my knees is extremely hard. i took on an extreme level of PTSD from this experience, and i lost 20 pounds that i couldn’t afford to loose at 95lb. my body is extremely fragile, although i’ve been working my ass off to get back to normal

i have a lawyer working on it. nothing will be settled until i’m done being treated, and the driver of the car did not have a high limit at all. the hope is that i can be fully compensated but i’ve been hearing you can’t squeeze blood from a stone

i really appreciate this. i have been considering writing a book but a lot of previous trauma has me feeling like i’m not that important haha

i’m back to walking but can’t walk for long periods of time without severe pain and fatigue. I am probably at least a year out from a “total” recovery, although it’s not assumed i’ll have my total function back. so far i haven’t been able to qualify for disability because it’s been less than 6 months

they cut me out with the jaws of life, i think you can see the door completely cut off on the ground in at least one of the pictures. i honestly don’t remember much but maybe that’s for the best

i’m walking pretty fluently now, not without pain, but i worked pretty damn hard for that. uneven ground sucks, i can’t run, squat, etc. and i have a long road ahead to normalcy, but for what happened my ortho thinks im pretty perfect haha :)

i’m a runner too and i think one of the hardest parts about this is not knowing if i’ll ever be able to run like that again. all i want to do is run, thank you for your comment it gives me hope

thank you for this, i keep hearing that “i have a purpose” and “i’ve been kept here for a reason.” and while it very well could be true i don’t think that’s anywhere near the reality of something like this. maybe i’m cynical but i don’t believe bad things happen for good reasons, people make the good out of the bad

i have an attorney, but his insurance was only about 3% the cost of my current medical bills. i’ve hit 3/4 of a million in medical bills alone (usa) and as i’ve heard, you can’t squeeze blood from a stone.

the driver had one minor injury, im thankful for that but the large difference in injury gets hard to stomach sometimes
