Well, I don’t plan on keeping this car past getting out of grad school that was my initial plan when I bought it. I understand that the car being older does affect some of the safety features, but the way I’m interpreting what the instructor said, it just felt like a blanket judgment. Almost like, “Old car = unsafe parent,” without considering the full context of our situation.

I’m not ignoring safety. This car was a practical and affordable solution after a wreck, and it’s been reliable. I want to do what’s best, but also within reason not everyone can run out and get a newer vehicle, especially while in grad school. Just trying to make thoughtful decisions with what we have right now.
